Who are the best operators in Rainbow Six Siege? Who is the oldest operator?

Operation Vector Glare Operator Gameplay and Tips Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege

‏The most ambitious year of Rainbow Six Siege continues with Operation Vector Glare. Watch to learn it all about the new Operators, Team Deathmatch map, gameplay features and much more!

Who are the best operators in Rainbow Six Siege?

ATTACKERS
These are our top picks of attacking operators in Rainbow Six Siege.

MAVERICK
These days Thatcher is almost permanently banned, so finding another effective way of clearing those Bandit batteries or Kaid claws is essential. While Kali can also be useful for this, Maverick is the superior choice, but he requires a lot of practice if you want to safely.

SLEDGE
We like Sledge; not only does he have high utility, he’s also a great fragger and his loadout capabilities tend to not change often. His gadget is increasingly important as vertical play begins to permeate even mid-level ranked games, and he can open up entire floors by himself thanks to his hammer.

ACE
Hard breach is a crucial role in Siege, and Ace’s throwable breaching devices can quickly open a large area from a safe distance.

ZOFIA
She’s almost interchangeable with Ash, but we prefer Zofia for her solo play potential. With her breaching charges she can open crucial vertical spots on maps like Kafe and Coastline.

IANA
One of Siege’s new operators, relative to those who feature on the rest of this list, Iana has proven surprisingly potent because of her gadget’s versatile nature, and the fact that her weapon is one of the best in the game.

TWITCH
Twitch’s appeal is pretty simple: she’s got the best weapon in the game (probably). The F2 assault rifle marries high damage, controllable recoil (even after the infamous nerf last year).

BUCK
Buck used to compete with Sledge but fell off the top of tier lists thanks to a loadout nerf, but now he’s back again in his own right. Buck is an all-round competent operator that can apply himself to many roles, but who doesn’t necessarily specialise in anything.

Who is the oldest operator in Rainbow Six Siege operators?

Samuel Leo “Sam” Fisher, codenamed Zero is an Attacking Operator featured in Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege. He is the main protagonist and player character of the Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell Franchise and was introduced in the Operation Shadow Legacy expansion.

Though the CIA and Third Echelon have classified the majority of Fisher’s childhood, it is known he was born in the Baltimore suburbs of Towson, Maryland, where he was raised by his paternal grandmother, Sarah. He was enrolled in a Military Boarding School where he learned to focus his energy, hone his skills, and to either follow orders or be sure to hide the evidence.

From school Fisher enrolled directly in the United States Naval Academy where he majored in Political Science and later went on to pursue SEAL Training. While serving in the Persian Gulf, Bolivia, Columbia, Senegal, and Kosovo, Fisher became known for his ability to complete the mission, regardless of personal cost. After being awarded a Defense Distinguished Service Medal, Fisher spent time as an instructor at Little Creek Naval Base, Virginia. He was recruited to the CIA, where he performed unknown operations, which were ultimately classified.

Rainbow Six Siege Isn’t Slowing Down On New Operators

Despite Rainbow Six Siege having a truly staggering number of playable characters, developer Ubisoft Montreal isn’t slowing down on adding new operators to the game anytime soon. In case you haven’t counted recently, Siege has 64 playable operators as of Year 7, Season 2: Vector Glare.

Lacombe said that the team is able to create so many new operators so quickly because they can make operators that solve the same problem just in different ways. He pointed out how, for example, Wamai and Jäger fulfill the same role as defenders. Both operators have gadgets that can intercept projectiles, but Wamai’s Mag-NET redirects them while Jäger’s ADS-MKIV shoots them out of the air.

Hearing as much from Karpazis and Lacombe surprised me, given the potential hurdle it supposedly must be to balance a roster as expansive as the one in Siege. We only need to point to Apex Legends senior character designer Devan McGuire’s comments about how Respawn is aware of the potential issues of “legend saturation” and how the team may slow down the release of new characters in future seasons. And that game only has 21 playable characters as of Season 13–that’s a third of Siege’s roster.

“On the balancing side, I think we’re still super comfortable,” Karpazis said. “We haven’t hit a roadblock and, like I said, the ideas are still coming. But it really is up to what the community wants. Do they want to see more characters in the game or do they want to see something else? We’ll always tailor what we deliver every single season to what we see our playerbase asking of us.”

Rainbow Six Siege developers confirm new Operators will keep coming

The Rainbow Six Siege developers said they will keep introducing new Operators to the game as they still have new ideas and concepts for future characters.

According to GameSpot, the Siege team still has a lot of ideas for future Operators. Creative director Alexander Karpazis told GameSpot they “haven’t even scratched the tip of the iceberg” and that the “team has so many ideas to release more characters and we’ve become really, really good at balancing this ecosystem of gameplay and gadgetry so that no matter which way you slice it whoever you’re playing as in a five-person team can be really important while always having a counter.”

Game designer Mathieu Lacombe used the recently introduced Operators Sens and Azami as an indication of how much “untapped potential that is still out there.” Lacombe explained that the team can create Operators quickly as they can make multiple Operators that solve the same problem in different ways.

The developers are also so confident in balancing new Operators that they’re removing the delay in introducing new Operators, allowing them to be played the same season they’re released.

Rainbow Six Siege operators has over 60 Operators for players to use, giving players the chance to find the perfect character for their playstyle. This is an overwhelming amount of Operators, and new characters are likely already in development. But if the developers can continue introducing fun and exciting new Operators that don’t break the game and are viable, fans will likely enjoy the continuous flow of new content. Operation Vector Glare releases tomorrow, allowing players to use Sens on live servers.
