Is Pokemon scarlet and violet out yet? What place is Pokemon based on?

Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet Announcement Trailer

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet is upcoming 2022 role-playing video game developed by Game Freak and published by Nintendo and The Pokémon Company for the Nintendo Switch.

Is Pokemon scarlet and violet out yet?

The newest main series Pokémon game, “Pokémon Scarlet & Violet,” will arrive on the Nintendo Switch on November 18, 2022.

A trailer for the game dropped this morning, revealing new details about the ninth generation of the classic franchise. Most importantly, this guy. His name is Lechonk.

Okay, fine, Lechonk may not be the most important reveal. “Pokémon Scarlet” and “Pokémon Violet” will be the first open world RPGs in the franchise, building off of the recent “Pokémon Legends: Arceus.” “Arceus” isn’t a real open world game — you travel to base camps, then run around a large, yet boundaried area encountering over-world Pokémon. So we’ll take these “open world” claims at face value.

Only 23% of consumers believe brands are doing a good job of creating personalized experiences. Here’s how a unified platform can help retailers leverage data and AI to keep up with expectations.

In other exciting (yet not Lechonk-level) news, this will be the first Pokémon game with multiplayer functionality — up to four people can team up and explore together (unfortunately, the trailer and accompanying press release are quite vague, so… it’s not quite clear what that means just yet).

Depending on which of the two games players choose, they will encounter a different Pokémon professor, Sada in “Pokémon Scarlet” and Turo in “Pokémon Violet.” The internet likes them already.

We already knew about the three starter Pokémon for generation nine: Sprigatito, a grass cat, Fuecoco, a fire crocodile, and Quaxly, a knock-off Donald Duck. But we’re getting some key new info about these friends in their Pokédex entries, mainly, this tidbit: “Quaxly is tidy, and it especially dislikes getting its head dirty.”

Finally, the new trailer introduced us to this generation’s main, version-exclusive legendary Pokémon: Koraidon and Miraidon. But honestly, they’re nothing compared to Lechonk.

What place is Pokemon scarlet and violet based on?

You find yourself in a tiny town with, like, five buildings. You struggle to choose a best friend from three eye-wateringly adorable baby animals (in this case: Sprigatito, a grass-type kitten; Fuecoco, a fire-type sort of crocodile…dinosaur…thing; and Quaxly, a water-type duck with an extremely silly-looking hat). You then watch as your best friend slowly grows up into a formidable monster capable of leveling towns and then direct them to do battle against the best friends of other people. Over the course of your adventure, you cobble together a team of other terrifying creatures, strolling around the countryside with six of them in tow.

Recent mainline Pokémon games have taken place in fictional realms based on regions like France and the United Kingdom, moving somewhat away from the Japan-inspired worlds of the earlier entries. Some fans believe Scarlet and Violet are inspired by Spain and Portugal. (Footage released so far bears strong geographical and architectural resemblance to the Iberian Peninsula.) Scarlet and Violet also appear to feature four-player co-op. In the trailer, one NPC says, “If you connect with friends, you can head out on adventures together—up to four of you at a time!”

New Pokémon in the Pokémon Scarlet and Violet trailer

The two new legendary Pokémon are called Koraidon and Miraidon. They have serpentine designs, with Koraidon sporting a red color scheme and Miraidon primarily in purple. Here is Koraidon.

PAWMI
In addition to the electric sacs in its cheeks, Pawmi has electricity-discharging organs on its forepaws. It generates electricity by rubbing its cheeks, then it shocks its opponents by touching them with the pads on its forepaws. The fur that covers its body is good insulation against the cold and serves the purpose of storing electricity. When it feels uneasy, this cautious Pokémon will begin rubbing its cheeks, preparing itself to discharge an electric shock.

LECHONK
Lechonk uses its sense of smell to find and eat only the most fragrant wild grasses and the richest Berries. As a result of its dining habits, it has come to radiate an aroma resembling herbs that Bug-type Pokémon dislike. If attacked by an opponent and startled, it will charge forward in a panic. It may appear fat at first glance, but in reality, the Pokémon’s body is mostly muscle built by constantly walking around in search of food.

SMOLIV
The oil that comes out of its head has a very strong bitter taste, and it is not suitable for consumption. When startled or attacked, Smoliv will shoot this oil out, slowing its opponent down. It will then seize that moment to run away. In the fruit on its head, Smoliv stores oil made from nutrients it gathers through photosynthesis. As a result, it can go for a week without eating or drinking. It prefers dry and sunny climates, and it seems to spend its days sunbathing.

Is Pokémon Scarlet and Violet a multiplayer game?

The Pokémon Company says players can expect “multiplayer gameplay with up to four players.” Trading and battling are one part of that experience, but the big change is in exploration: “You will be able to explore the various locations of the region in these games with other players,” the company wrote on the Pokémon Scarlet and Violet website.

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet will have local wireless play for two to four players, with online multiplayer available for one to four players.

It’s unclear how extensive the multiplayer experience will be, but it’s clear that The Pokémon Company has been leading into a more in-depth multiplayer experience following Pokémon Sword and Shield.

The second trailer for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet confirmed that the adventure will allow up to four players to explore the world together, along with returning features such as a trading and battling against your pals. We got a little taste of this in Pokemon Sword and Shield where you can traverse around the wild areas with a pal. Being able to explore the open-world of Scarlet and Violet with fellow trainers certainly sounds magical.

What’s the difference between the two versions of Pokémon?

Generally speaking, when a Pokémon release has two distinct versions, there are subtle differences between the two. The most obvious one is in the logo and colour styling of each game. You can see this in the image of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, which shows the main character in the Scarlet-themed attire. Each version will also have a slightly different Pokémon list, with trading being required for 100% completion. We don’t yet know just how different Pokémon Scarlet and Violet are from each other, but we’re sure to hear more in the coming months.
