TechLost Ark is a top-down 2.5D fantasy massively multiplayer online action role-playing game (MMOARPG).
It is co-developed by Tripod Studio and Smilegate’s game development subsidiary Smilegate RPG. It was fully released in the South Korean region on December 4, 2019.
The game was also released in North America, South America, and Europe on February 11, 2022, where it is published by Amazon Games.
Within twenty-four hours of release, it became the second most played game on Steam.
Lost Ark has shot to the top of the Steam charts, amassing over 1 million concurrent players making it the most played game on Steam (based on number of concurrents) of all time.
Developed by Smilegate RPG, Lost Ark is a Korean MMO that debuted there in 2018 before being localized in English and brought to the west via a partnership with Amazon Games. Though it’s only been around in the US and Europe for a short time, it has over 200,000 viewers on Twitch right now and has beaten games like Dota 2, CS:GO, and PUBG in all-time number of concurrent players on Steam.
Lost Ark is primarily focused on PvE and exploration (questing, achievement/collectible hunting, crafting, etc.), but features PvP elements as well.
Players start by customizing their character which they can then level up by completing the storyline.
Reaching level 50 unlocks access to tiered endgame dungeons and raids, at which point all further progress is tied to the character’s gear score.
Lost Ark is available on Steam for PC gamers in NA and EU regions, provided that players have the minimum PC requirements.
This is the only way to play Lost Ark at the moment. But, Smilegate has shown signs of having undertaken the development of Lost Ark Mobile, and Lost Ark may be released on console platforms in the future.
Lost Ark is currently available for PC gamers, and was released onto Steam’s platform for Founder’s Pack purchasers and free-to-play players. Those hoping to play Lost Ark on PC will need to create a Steam account before gaining access to the game.
