New ROBOCOP Skin Gameplay in Fortnite

Fortnite Robocop Skin Arriving in Store Today

The 80s are back in style in Fortnite with the arrival of the Robocop skin! Fortnite has a ton of collaborations and content for Chapter 3 Season 2! Epic Games is certainly going full force at trying to keep Fortnite as relevant as ever.

Recent crossovers with many popular pop culture franchises and new items are just a few ways the game is driving engagement. Recently Microsoft announced Fortnite is the first free-to-play game in its Xbox Cloud Gaming system. This integration made the game finally playable on iPhones once again for free.

All these efforts in content and expansion have reportedly led to a new collaboration, a Robocop Fortnite Skin. According to the prominent Fortnite leaker Shiina, Epic Games is adding a Robocop skin to the store today.

This information comes from a datamine that revealed all the content coming to the store later today. Epic Games added a store section for this upcoming skin according to this information.

Despite the datamine confirming this Fortnite Robocop skin, there is still no official confirmation or an image of the skin in question. However, this rumor would be easily verifiable in a few hours as the skin is allegedly dropping tonight.

Fortnite Robocop skin Leaks

While most skins are generally expected due to leaks or clues found in game files and gameplay, the latest Robocop addition has come as a surprise to a majority of Fortnite players. The pop culture icon originally from the 1980s was added to the Item Shop on March 13th and featured in a video tweeted by Fortnite. The Robocop pack includes not only the iconic Robocop skin, but also a pickaxe, back bling, and emote serving as an almost degrading homage to the title character’s malfunctioning opponent ED-209.

While some are reasonably excited about the crossover like they were with other 80s Fortnite cosmetics like The Terminator and the Xenomorph, others are questioning the reason behind Robocop’s inclusion. Not only is the addition surprising in general, but some critics have also already dug deeper, suggesting that Robocop’s themes critiquing capitalism don’t fit into Fortnite’s model, which encourages microtransactions and spending. The movie is also extremely violent, which is a strong departure from Fortnite’s family friendly presentation. The Item Shop and its additions have frequently been a point of contention, but most agree that new items (especially crossovers) are exciting overall, and many players are already utilizing the Robocop skin.

As an intengral part of the game, Fortnite cosmetics are seemingly always going to be important to fans despite the criticisms of Epic Games’ crossovers, copyright issues, and business practices mainly regarding the Item Shop. Robocop is currently accompanied by other extremely popular featured items like Scarlet Witch and the unvaulted Icon and Star Wars skins (which appeared alongside new Stormtrooper quests and lightsabers). After Robocop, fans are heavily anticipating what may appear next in Fortnite, including a rumored Star Wars-themed third season of Chapter 3.

How to get RoboCop Skin in Fortnite Item Shop

Fortnite players can purchase this exclusive RoboCop Outfit in the Item Shop. Unfortunately, the only way to get the RoboCop skin bundle is to purchase it from the Fortnite Item Shop for 1,800 V-Bucks. There are four items in the bundle, each listed below.

  • RoboCop Outfit (Epic)
  • LEG-209 Back Bling (Epic)
  • Lil ED-209 Emote (Rare)
  • LED-209 Harvesting Tool (Uncommon)

The LEG-209 Back Bling, the leg of ED-209, doubles as a Pickaxe (i.e., harvesting tool). “Get them both in the RoboCop Bundle and use LEG-209 as a Pickaxe that can be a Back Bling and vice versa,” the blog post said.

The Lil’ ED-209 Emote allows players to ride a miniature version of the famed crime fighter (and it works on stairs, too). “Going on patrol? The traversal Lil’ ED-209 Emote is also in the Shop! Use it to ride on a mini ED-209,” the blog post continued.

It is possible to purchase each item separately; however, it will be a lot more expensive this way at 2,500 V-Bucks. For example, the RoboCop Outfit sold separately is 1,500 V-Bucks, while the Back Bling (and Pickaxe) and Lil ED-250 Emote are 500 V-Bucks each.

Suppose you’re wondering about the sudden RoboCop collaboration in Fortnite. In that case, the crime fighter’s reprisal is likely Epic Games’ subtle nod at the upcoming game, entitled RoboCop: Rogue City, expected to hit the shelves sometime next year (thanks, Polygon).

It should go without saying that the RoboCop Outfit will only be available in the Fortnite Item Shop for a limited time, with rotations occurring at any given time. So, if you’re dying to get your hands on the future of law enforcement, then don’t delay.
