How To Disable A Fortnite Tank

How To Disable A Fortnite Tank? Where To Fight A Tank?

This guide will help Fortnite players disable a tank by damaging the engine and quickly complete a Chapter 3 Season 2 Week 7 quest.

Fortnite: Disable a Tank

The first step toward completing the “disable a tank by damaging the engine” challenge is to locate a tank, and there many of them scattered across Fortnite’s map. A map showcasing the positions of several tanks can be found below, and all the marked vehicles are suitable for the purposes of resolving this quest. That said, it is recommended that players make their way to Command Cavern in the northwest quadrant of the map, as it is home to two tanks, making it easier to finish the challenge.

Regardless of the specific tank that a fan chooses to target, the next thing that they should do is look for a weapon in the vicinity of the vehicle. Indeed, any of Fortnite’s weapons will work just fine here, and players should simply grab whatever they come across first. Fans should then return to the tank that they have selected and prepare to disable it by damaging the engine.

To damage the engine of a tank in Fortnite, players must fire their weapons at the metal vents on the back of the vehicle, which are shown in image that is below. After shooting this area for a short time, fans will see a small explosion, and they will receive indication that they have completed the “disable a tank by damaging the engine” quest immediately thereafter. Notably, players can also approach the vehicle to get further confirmation that is temporarily disabled.

After disabling one of the tanks at Command Cavern, players may want to head northward and collect the new Omni Chips at Seven Outpost 2 in Fortnite. In total, there are three Omni Chips at that location, and fans can put them toward unlocking new Omni Sword customizations.

Disable a Tank by Damaging the Engine – Fortnite

For one of the Week 7 Season quests in Fortnite Battle Royale Chapter 3 Season 2, you need to “Disable a Tank by Damaging the Engine“.

Where To Find A Tank In Fortnite

It’s been a couple days since The Origin last reached out to us, which means it’s time for another Covert Ops mission from him. This time, we’re starting out yet again with another device uplink, this time in some new areas at least. This third of four Covert Ops challenges tasks us with operating a tank, but due to the battlefield constantly shifting each faction’s turf around, they may be hard to find these days. Here’s where to find a tank in Fortnite.

First you’ll need to establish a device uplink. We’ve got options close to Coney Crossroads, the Daily Bugle, Tilted Towers, Rocky Reels, and Chonker’s Speedway. Make your choice however you please and grab that device uplink. The Origin’s velvety-smooth voice will come over the comms, talking about how great of a driver you are. This is because he needs someone to drive a tank and destroy some structures. 300 of them, in fact.

Tank time!
This may seem daunting, but it should be easy to get this done all in one match, if you’re lucky. The challenge page won’t show you tank spawns–that would make it too easy, wouldn’t it? Luckily, there should be a tank around each of the areas the device uplinks are located. There are also two over by Command Cavern, waiting to be driven.

Once you’ve commandeered yourself or your party a tank, start driving around, running through as many trees, rocks, fences, buildings, or any other destructible objects around the map as possible. You can also shoot buildings down with the tank cannon, but this is super loud and might attract unwanted attention. Sometimes Fortnite proves inconsistent with what it considers to be a “structure.”

Fortnite Tanks locations

Fortnite Tanks initially spawn at Named Locations that are (or were) controlled by the Imagined Order. At the time of writing that means the following POIs:

  • Command Cavern x2
  • Condo Canyon
  • Coney Crossroads
  • The Daily Bugle
  • The Fortress
  • Rocky Reels
  • Tilted Towers

We’ve marked the starting locations of these Fortnite Tanks on the map above, but if IO Guards take control of them and head out on patrol then you may have to search the surrounding area to find where they’ve moved to, or they may be gone completely if another player has already commandeered them.

How to get a Fortnite Tank

The easiest way to get a Fortnite Tank is to find one that’s been left unoccupied, so you can simply jump inside and drive off. Otherwise you’ll need to take out the IO Guards driving the Titan around on patrol, and while the turret gunner can be picked off the top you’ll need to deal enough damage to the vehicle to force the driver out to fight you. The best way to do this is shoot off the treads around the wheels, causing the Fortnite Tank to grind to a halt and the occupying guards to exit – once they’ve been dealt with, approach the treads and follow the ‘Repair’ prompt to fix them so you can get moving again.

To help you spot opponents hiding behind cover, you can hold the right mouse button to aim through the thermal targeting camera. The camera acts like a scope on a thermal weapon: enemies and hostile targets show up in white.

You can also switch seats to use the gun turret at the top of the tank by pressing the Left Ctrl button. This heavy machine gun can overheat, but it does a lot of damage quickly. However, operating the gun will leave you exposed and unable to drive the tank. There are also seats on top of the tank for other team members if you’re playing trios and squad modes.

HOW TO FIGHT A FORTNITE TANK

Tanks are, by design, durable vehicles that you can’t destroy quickly. Thankfully, they have a weak spot that you can destroy to expose the driver. There is a small hatch at the front of the tank, just underneath the tank’s turret. When you destroy this hatch, the driver is vulnerable. A new makeshift hatch will appear after a short time, so make sure you take out the driver while you can.

You can also shoot at the two panels at the back of the Fortnite tank to disable it by overheating the engine or destroying the tank’s tracks to hamper its mobility. Finally, if you have some remote explosives, throwing one onto the tank and detonating it will deal a considerable amount of damage.

Is there tanks in Fortnite?

Tanks spawn at most of the major locations that are currently controlled by the Imagined Order, which you can find by looking inside the red lines. Right now, most POIs are inside these IO-controlled areas. Here are all of the locations where you can find tanks in Fortnite: Command Cavern (2 tanks.
