Red Velvet’s Joy confirms relationship with Crush; fans say singer dropped several ‘hints’

Joy of girl group Red Velvet and R&B singer-songwriter Crush are officially a pair, their management agencies said Monday.

“The two were colleagues but recently began dating,” Joy’s management agency, SM Entertainment, said.

Crush’s agency, P Nation, made the same statement.

The couple collaborated last year when the 24-year-old songstress featured on “Mayday,” the first track of Crush’s single, “homemade 1.”

Joy released her debut solo album “Hello” in May and a new album with Red Velvet last week titled “Queendom.”

Crush, 29, has been fulfilling his mandatory military service since November.

Reports on Monday confirmed that the Red Velvet star is in a romantic relationship with the hunk after working together on a single they released back in May.

Crush’s label, P Nation, and Joy’s SM Entertainment confirmed the reports that went viral on Korean news portals.
According to allkpop.com, P Nation and SM Entertainment released a statement that read, “Crush and Joy have recently started dating from being a close sunbae and hoobae.”

Reports also stated that the two started off with a senior-junior relationship, but only recently began dating. The two singers collaborated on the song ‘Mayday’ in May of last year, and reportedly stayed in touch and eventually started dating.

Besides working together on their music, their shared love for dogs reportedly helped them bond and spark off an intimate romance.

Joy and Crush started dating “recently,” SM Entertainment and P NATION said in a statement to My Daily Broadcasting via Soompi today, Aug. 23.

“They had a senior-junior relationship, but they recently began dating with good feelings toward each other,” the agencies were quoted as saying.

The announcement comes after local news outlet Sports Chosun revealed the two are in a relationship. Joy and Crush were said to have remained in touch even after their collaboration on the song “Mayday” in May last year. They eventually started dating, the report said.

Crush is known for his hit songs “Don’t Forget” and “Bittersweet.” He also sang “Beautiful,” which is in the soundtrack of the hit Korean drama “Goblin.” The singer officially debuted in June 2014 under Amoeba Culture and transferred to P NATION in 2019.

Crush, whose real name is Shin Hyoseob is best known for his OST in South Korea’s mega-hit drama Goblin. The soloist who works under PSY’s P-Nation had last appeared on Akmu’s Next Episode track ‘Stupid Love’ in July.

Shin Hyo-seob , professionally known as Crush (크러쉬), is a South Korean R&B and hip hop singer.

He debuted on April 1, 2014 with the single “Sometimes” and released his first album Crush on You on June 5, 2014.

Nine of Crush‘s singles have peaked in the top five on Gaon Digital Chart, including “Just“, “Beautiful“, “Don’t Forget“, “Bittersweet” and “Sleepness Night“.
