Galacta Knight In The Kirby Series: Themes, Purposes & Attacks

Galacta Knight is a character in the Kirby series, debuting as the final boss of the Meta Knightmare Ultra sub-game of Kirby Super Star Ultra. He is the greatest and most powerful warrior in the galaxy from the ancient past.

Galacta Knight in the Kirby series

Galacta Knight is a very powerful and legendary warrior, given the title of the “greatest warrior in the galaxy.” While most of his story remains a mystery, with the only known piece of it being that he used to be a renowned hero, he is said to be from the ancient past, a time that was forgotten. According to Galactic Nova, Galacta Knight was sealed away in fear of his power. Additionally, according to the Japanese version of his pause screen description in Kirby: Planet Robobot, Galacta Knight was sealed away many times throughout the ages, but was never successfully destroyed.

Despite his decent amount of appearances, Galacta Knight’s true personality and intentions are not well-known. While he was feared for his immense power, Galacta Knight has never been stated to be explicitly evil, even though he may potentially be violent and destructive. However, it is stated by Star Dream that he may destroy a nearby planet or two for seemingly no reason when brought to the current time, and in Super Kirby Clash, his Light form quest description states that the fate of the world is at risk, which appear to portray him in a villainous matter.

Given that he was a hero, it could be possible that he used to be courageous and good-natured, although it is unknown what would have changed him to his current state if this were to be the case. Regardless, Galacta Knight is currently known to not be benevolent, and will use his powers to usually attack anyone within his vicinity without mercy, including those who summon him.

Kirby – All Galacta Knight Themes (The Greatest Warrior in the Galaxy)

Galacta Knight debuted in Meta Knightmare Ultra subgame in Super Star Ultra. Since then he has become an expected “secret” endgame boss throughout multiple games. In recent games he started to have some twists like being absorbed by a butterfly and changing into Morpho Knight in Star Allies, or having a new title and additional forms in Super Kirby Clash. I wonder what they’ll do with him in future games…

The Purpose of Galacta Knight in the Kirby series

His purpose in Meta Knightmare Ultra is simply to fight Meta Knight; he does not diverge from this request. His purpose in Kirby’s Return to Dream Land is unstated, but may likely be for a similar reason. His purpose in Meta Knightmare Returns is nearly identical to his intention in Meta Knightmare Ultra, except he is summoned on Star Dream’s will instead of Meta Knight’s. He quickly turns on Star Dream, since it forced him to travel through space and time, and sliced a huge scar on the mechanical monster, causing its “final program” to activate and transform it into Star Dream Soul OS, which survived the otherwise fatal slash.

Why Galacta Knight does not do something similar to Galactic Nova is unexplained. However, Galacta Knight was sealed away for fear of his strength when Nova summoned him, whereas he wasn’t when Star Dream summoned him through a portal linking space-time. His purpose in Guest Star ???? Star Allies Go! is unstated, but it may either be to simply fight, as it’s been in previous situations, or it may be from some unknown plan by Hyness.

Is Galacta Knight in Kirby and the Forgotten Land?

The answer to this question is a little bit complicated, as Galacta Knight’s previous appearance suggests he may have transformed into Morpho Knight. Morpho Knight is in Kirby and the Forgotten Land as a late-game boss. Morpho Knight is another knight-based character similar to Meta Knight, though Morpho Knight’s origin is a little bit perplexing.

Morpho Knight first appeared in Kirby Star Allies. Morpho formed when an orange butterfly lands on Galacta Knight, seemingly disintegrating Galacta. The butterfly then appears to absorb Galacta’s energy and transforms into Morpho Knight. It is unknown if Morpho Knight is a reborn Galacta, or if it is just the butterfly itself taking Galacta’s form. Morpho is formed similarly in the Forgotten Kingdom when a butterfly lands onto Soul Forgo.

However, there is no character with Galacta Knight’s classic appearance. Even if Morpho is a reborn Galacta, Galacta Knight himself makes no appearance in the Forgotten Kingdom.

Unfortunately for any white and pink armor fans out there, Galacta Knight does not show up in Kirby and the Forgotten Land. That being said, it is not impossible for them to never make an appearance in a future update to the game. Regardless, they are not there now either in the main story or in the boss rush modes included in the Colosseum.

While Galacta Knight doesn’t appear, both Meta Knight and Morpho Knight appear and can be fought if you are looking for a new challenge. Obviously, neither are the long-running boss you have come to expect if you are a long time Kirby fan, but Morpho Knight kind of takes their place this time around. Who you prefer over the other might affect your feelings on this matter, but as stated above, there is always hope for a future inclusion for Galacta Knight.

Game appearances of Galacta Knight in Kirby Series

Kirby Super Star Ultra

Galacta Knight fighting Kirby in the True Arena of Kirby Super Star Ultra.
Galacta Knight made his debut as a surprise boss in Kirby Super Star Ultra. At the end of Meta Knightmare Ultra, Meta Knight meets Galactic Nova, who grants him one wish. Meta Knight wishes to fight the strongest warrior in the galaxy so that he may become stronger, so Nova summons Galacta Knight, who had been sealed away because of his immense power. After his defeat, Galacta Knight flies upwards and explodes, which causes him to lose his wings, lance and shield.

Galacta Knight’s attack patterns are similar to Meta Knight’s, but he makes liberal use of energy attacks. He often guards as well, which makes him invulnerable to damage in the process. He is also battled by Kirby in The True Arena. When on the ground, he hovers instead of standing most of the time. Unlike most bosses, which lose over half of their health when hit by a Mach Tornado, Galacta Knight loses only a small fraction of his health, because of his resistance to “Crash-type” attacks, Mach Tornado being one of them. Final bosses in later titles tend to have the “Crash” resistance as well.
