Who is Agent 19 Marvel? Spoilers for ‘Hawkeye’ Episode 6. Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD Season 1 19

‘Hawkeye’ Episode 6 Spoilers: Is Laura Barton Mockingbird? Series reveals Agent 19 secret

Spoilers for ‘Hawkeye’ Episode 6

‘Hawkeye’ finally ends its six-episode run on Disney+ and Marvel gave fans the perfect gift with a generous dose of action, drama and some never revealed secrets.

Shield Agent 19

Speaking of which, there was always a Mrs Barton, but none knew her real name and details, but the finale shows her as Agent 19, a former SHIELD agent.

Also going by the name ‘Mockingbird’, Barbara first appeared in ‘Astonishing Tales #6’ in 1971 as a supporting character and eventual love interest of Ka-Zar, and was revealed to be a highly trained agent of S.H.I.E.L.D.

The spill comes in the form of the Rolex watch that Clint was shown to be searching for throughout the series. In the final minutes of the episode, he comes home with Kate (Hailee Steinfeld) to celebrate Christmas with his family and returns the glittery watch which reveals a SHIELD logo at the back and with Agent 19 inscribed. This gives the confirmation that Barbara was indeed the super spy that was kept a long-lost secret. This also meant the theories of the fans who speculated that she was indeed Barbara came true.

Mockingbird has quite a few storylines in the comics. Barbara’s penchant for poking fun of her opponents in battle earned her the code name of “Mockingbird”. She was also tasked by Nick Fury to stop Carl Delandan; on the way she During the mission, a misunderstanding caused S.H.I.E.L.D. agents to shoot at her, and the spy spent some time in a coma. Soon after, she faked her death to keep her identity intact. ‘Hawkeye’ doesn’t necessarily shed light on how she and Barton met, but it shows the latter was aware of her spying background.

One of the episodes sees her speak to Barton in German and that was the first hint that she was more than what she came across. There are storylines that see her and Barton as part of the West Coast Avengers, but for now, the Marvel series just drops a massive easter egg.

Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 1 19

Who is Agent 19 Marvel ?

Marcus Daniels, recently freed from his imprisonment in the Fridge by John Garrett and Hydra, walks along the docks in an unidentified city, and asks a bystander for a ride to Portland. When he refuses, Daniels shows off his abilities to drain the energy out of anything around him before killing him and stealing his truck.

Agent 19 Marvel
At Providence, Simmons tends to Ward’s wounds while he lies to the rest of the team about the situation at the Fridge and with Garrett. He lets them know that the prisoners stationed at the Fridge escaped, including Marcus Daniels, who Coulson takes a particular interest in. He orders Skye to cross-check the list of inmates at the Fridge with crime reports, and announces he will take a team out to recapture the escaped prisoners. Koenig, who still doesn’t trust anyone but Coulson, disagrees, and won’t let anyone leave until they undergo “orientation,” a high-powered lie-detector to test each of their loyalty. May, Skye, Fitz, Simmons, and Triplett pass with flying colors, but Ward nearly fails the test when Koenig asks him about his true purpose at the base. Just as Koenig is about to execute him as a Hydra infiltrator, Ward recovers by telling him he’s at Providence for Skye, although he doesn’t reveal that Garrett also wants her.

Coulson elaborates on the mission to Fitz, Simmons, and Trip, explaining that Daniels was a research assistant at a physic labs attempting to harness the power of Darkforce. Daniels was exposed to Darkforce and gained the power to absorb all forms of energy, enabling to kill with a touch. Conventional weapon won’t work on him but last time S.H.I.E.L.D. managed to capture him, they overloaded his system with pure light. They travel to Portland, where he believes Daniels will go after Audrey Nathan, a woman he was obsessed with before he was locked up in the Fridge, having called her his “only light in the darkness”. Meanwhile, Daniels is chasing Audrey through a park before she’s rescued by Simmons and Trip, pretending to be CIA. Fitz and Coulson pull up soon after and unleash the D.W.A.R.F.s to shine pure light on Daniels. Daniels recognizes Coulson and reveals to him that S.H.I.E.L.D. experimented on him in the Fridge. Coulson reasoned it was all to contain him, only for Daniels to reveal that all S.H.I.E.L.D. did was strengthen his powers, which he demonstrates by blasting Coulson and Fitz with blasts of dark energy, enabling him to flee.
The next day, the team hides out with Audrey at the auditorium where she’ll have a concert that night, and she tells Triplett and Simmons (Fitz and Coulson are in a separate room tracking Daniels) about her previous history with Daniels. He repeatedly showed up at her cello concerts, which soon evolved into stalking. Daniels was eventually apprehended by a team of S.H.I.E.L.D. agents, and Audrey started a relationship with the team’s leader: Phil Coulson.

Back at Providence, Skye and Koenig are trying to track down the escaped prisoners. Frustrated with a lack of progress, Skye suggests they hack into the NSA satellites to get footage of the prisoners escaping the prison that S.H.I.E.L.D. satellites couldn’t capture. Despite Koenig’s objection to hacking into such a powerful organization, Ward pushes Skye into doing it. Meanwhile, Agent May has packed up her things and leaves Providence, tired of Coulson not trusting her. Ward runs into her before she leaves, and then heads to Koenig’s office. Koenig updates him on Skye’s hack before Ward ominously shuts the door.

Meanwhile, in Portland, Audrey performs her concert to an empty audience to lure out Daniels. The ruse works, and Trip, Simmons and Fitz fire high-energy beams of light at him. Although Daniels puts up a fight and even attacks Audrey, the light is too powerful for him and his body explodes into a cloud of Darkforce (the energy that gave Daniels his powers). Coulson, who has kept himself hidden from Audrey until now, rushes to her side. He comforts her as she wakes up, so the first thing she sees is the boyfriend she thought was dead. He soon withdraws, making Audrey assume she hallucinated Simmons as Coulson. On the plane ride back, Coulson confides in Fitz that he plans on telling Audrey the truth someday, when she’s ready to accept it.

At Providence, Skye looks unsuccessfully for Koenig to celebrate her successful hack into the NSA satellites. She finds Ward instead, and the two soon end up making out. Ward freaks out, however, when Skye reaches behind his head and finds blood, and leaves the room. Using a tablet tracking their lanyards, Skye keeps looking for Koenig, and tracks him to a closet, where she finds a penny perched above the door which drops to the floor before finding his corpse stuffed in the vent. Figuring out that Ward must be with Hydra, she gets out of the closet and evades Ward by keeping an eye on his tracker before hiding in the restroom. She panics before looking towards one of the base screens. Ward returns to the closet to find the penny in its rightful place before Skye appears behind him, pretending to be none the wiser about his secret. The two of them leave on the Bus (Ward secretly taking her to Garrett) before Coulson and the team arrive back at Providence. When Ward mentions the hard drive which she backed up all of the technology schematics the team had gathered, she realizes his true mission.

May’s mother picks her up by the side of an Ontario highway, handing over an envelope May requested. The mother questions if May intends to kill the target, though May only wants to talk with them, as the mother admits to always having liked Maria.

Bobbi Morse, Agent 19 of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Mike Friedrich took over from Roy Thomas to become writer of Astonishing Tales with #15 (Dec. 1972).

He introduces a new status-quo in which Ka-Zar is living in New York and “lady biologist” and S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Barbara (who now prefers to be called “Bobbi”) Morse is his constant companion.

Friedrich remained the writer of the various color Ka-Zar series for the next two years and for most of that period he continued to feature Morse as Ka-Zar’s sidekick and occasional love interest. In these stories she is depicted as a fully trained S.H.I.E.L.D. agent. Contemptuous of his jungle origins, she is Ka-Zar’s escort to the city and modern life. Together she and Ka-Zar tackle threats such as the Pusher, Gemini, Victorius, Gog, and the Plunderer.

As the series progresses she begins to wear a regular costume of tinted-glasses, a red one-piece, and boots. Her S.H.I.E.L.D. designation of “Agent 19” is revealed and she and Ka-Zar finally kiss.

In 1974 the color Ka-Zar series left Astonishing Tales and was relaunched in the Ka-Zar, Lord of the Hidden Jungle title. The strip is set once again in the Savage Land and Morse is absent for the first story. She returns in the third issue—explaining that Nick Fury had sent her on a S.H.I.E.L.D. assignment to look into “El Tigre”, a subversive who is exploiting the energy crisis in South America.

This leads her to reluctantly travel back to the Savage Land, where she and Ka-Zar defeat El Tigre and his ally Man-God together.

The introduction of Shanna the She-Devil into Ka-Zar’s supporting cast changes Morse’s role in the stories of this period. Ka-Zar expresses clear attraction to the more jungle-friendly Shanna from the outset and Morse is cast as the secondary love interest. This dynamic is most notable in Morse’s lone appearance in the Ka-Zar strip in the black-and-white magazine Savage Tales (#8; Jan. 1975). Written by Gerry Conway, the story depicts Morse leading Shanna and a group of S.H.I.E.L.D. agents into the Savage Land where they work with Ka-Zar to neutralise a threat to world security. During the course of the adventure Morse realises that Ka-Zar’s affections lie with Shanna.

This story, first published in late-1974, is the last in which Morse appears as a Ka-Zar supporting character.

A Mockingbird’s-Eye View

Believing the Super-Soldier project had been infiltrated, Fury promoted Morse to field agent (Agent 19) and sent her undercover at the project, led by her mentor Dr. Wilma Calvin and Dr. Ted Sallis, to romance Dr. Paul Allen, the suspected spy. After Sallis vanished and Calvin was shot, Allen suggested recruiting tracker/adventurer Kevin Plunder, AKA Ka-Zar, to find Sallis. Morse, posing as a distressed psychic, deceived Plunder’s servants into revealing that Ka-Zar was in the Savage Land, a hidden tropical region of prehistoric animals in Antarctica. Paul and Bobbi flew there, but attacking pterodactyls forced their plane down and Morse became embroiled in a war between dinosaur-mounted descendants of British and German World War II veterans; however, Ka- Zar rescued them, and Bobbi soon convinced him to return to civilization with her.

Barbara Morse (Earth-616)

Avengers Assemble! As in get your asses up and let’s go!

Dr. Barbara “Bobbi” Morse was born and raised in San Diego, California. She excelled in school and later attended the Georgia Institute of Technology, specializing in biology, earning a PhD under Dr. Wilma Calvin.

S.H.I.E.L.D.

She joined Dr. Calvin in working on Project: Gladiator. The project was backed by S.H.I.E.L.D., who wanted to recreate the Super Soldier Serum that created Captain America. During the course of the project, S.H.I.E.L.D. trained Bobbi to be a spy, and she was given the codename Agent 19.

The team for Project Gladiator consisted of Dr. Ted Sallis and Dr. Paul Allen, whom she was ordered to start a relationship with so that she could investigate suspicions that he was involved with A.I.M. Dr. Allen and Ellen Brandt, who were in fact secretly working for A.I.M., sabotaged the project, and Sallis was transformed into the Man-Thing.

Barbara traveled to the Savage Land with Dr. Paul Allen in search of Ka-Zar. However their plane crashed, with Paul being saved by Ka-Zar and Barbara being rescued by the British of New Britannia.

They recruited Ka-Zar and brought him back with them to Florida.

In Florida, Paul revealed his true affiliation with A.I.M., and Barbara admitted that her engagement to him was a sham on S.H.I.E.L.D. orders. Soon afterwards, Allen was destroyed by Man-Thing.

With Ka-Zar, she traveled to New York and helped defeat Victorius, who had taken a sample of Super Soldier Serum from Sallis and Calvin’s experiments.

After they defeated Victorius, Ka-Zar and Zabu returned but not before Ka-Zar and Bobbi shared a farewell kiss. She later visited the Savage Land again to help on his many adventures, but ultimately returned home to the United States.
Huntress

Bobbi was later recruited by a US Senator to investigate corruption in a Latin American branch of S.H.I.E.L.D. She dropped out of S.H.I.E.L.D. and became the costumed operative, Huntress. But when the threat was defeated she returned back to her S.H.I.E.L.D. duties.
