Gigi Hadid addresses Zayn Malik’s alleged dispute with Yolanda amid breakup

After breaking up with Zayn Malik, Gigi Hadid addressed the alleged dispute between her mother Yolanda Hadid and her longtime partner.

“Gigi is solely focused on the best for Khai. She asks for privacy during this time,” Gigi’s rep told People in a statement Thursday, explaining that the model’s priority is caring for her and Malik’s 13-month-old daughter despite the family discord.

The outlet reported on Thursday that Gigi, 26, and Malik have split amid the conflict, which a source later confirmed to Page Six.

“They are not together right now. They are both good parents though,” a family friend told the outlet. “They co-parent. Yolanda is of course very protective of Gigi. She wants the best for her daughter and grandchild.”

Sources told TMZ earlier in the day that Malik, 28, allegedly struck Yolanda, 57, a claim that the former One Direction singer vehemently denied.

“I adamantly deny striking Yolanda Hadid,” he wrote in a social media statement. “For the sake of my daughter I decline to give any further details.”

Multiple requests for comment to all three celebs’ teams from Page Six went unanswered Thursday.

In his statement, Malik expressed hope that Yolanda will “reconsider her false allegations and move towards healing these family issues in private.”

The musician then shed light on what led to the alleged incident between him and the “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” alum.

Malik said in an effort to “protect” his daughter, he agreed to “not contest claims arising from an argument I had with a family member of my partner’s who entered our home while my partner was away several weeks ago.”

The “Better” singer continued, “This was and still should be a private matter but it seems for now there is divisiveness and despite my efforts to restore us to a peaceful family environment that will allow for me to co-parent my daughter in a manner in which she deserves, this has been ‘leaked’ to the press.”

Malik concluded his post by saying he hoped “healing” would come to all those involved in the alleged incident.

“I am hopeful though for healing for all involved with the harsh words shared and more importantly I remain vigilant to protect Khai and give her the privacy she deserves,” he wrote.

In a separate statement to TMZ, Malik said, “I adamantly deny striking Yolanda Hadid and for the sake of my daughter I decline to give any further details and I hope that Yolanda will reconsider her false allegations and move towards healing these family issues in private.”

Gigi Hadid confirmed the couple was expecting their first child during an April 2020 appearance on “The Tonight Show.” They welcomed Khai in September 2020.

Zayn Malik, father to Gigi Hadid’s baby daughter, adamantly denied Thursday a claim by Hadid’s mother, Yolanda Hadid, that he hit her during a heated argument last week.

While TMZ reported Thursday that Yolanda Hadid, the former “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star, is considering filing a police report over the alleged assault, the former One Direction singer said in a statement that there was nothing more than an “exchange of harsh words” during an argument over his 1-year-old daughter’s safety and privacy.

“I adamantly deny striking Yolanda Hadid and for the sake of my daughter I decline any further details,” Malik, 28, said in a statement released through his representative, the Daily Mail reported.

Gigi Hadid, meanwhile, is apparently trying not to get in the middle of the dispute, saying in a statement obtained by Us Weekly: “Gigi is solely focused on the best for Khai. She asks for privacy during this time.”

In a second Twitter statement, Malik released a few choice details, including his claim that the incident was triggered by his effort to “protect a safe space” for Khai. The British singer also cast doubt on his relationship with Gigi Hadid, the Daily Mail reported. His statement referred to him and the Victoria’s Secret model trying to “co-parent” their daughter, suggesting that they are currently not together as a couple.

“As all of you know I am a private person and I very much want to create a safe and private space for my daughter to grow up in,” Malik began before seeming to take a swipe at Yolanda Hadid’s reality TV career, though he didn’t name her specifically. He said he didn’t want his daughter to be in a household “where private family matters” are “thrown on the world stage for all to poke and pick apart.”

Malik mentioned that an unnamed relative of his “partner” entered “our home while my partner was away several weeks ago.” He despaired that this “private matter” had been “leaked” to the press and said he would remain “vigilant” in protecting Khai and in giving her “the privacy she deserves.”

Malik and Hadid, 26, have had an on-again, off-again relationship that began in 2015. It rekindled when the model announced she was pregnant with their daughter. Khai was born in September 2020.

It’s not clear where Malik’s argument with Hadid’s mother took place. At one point, Malik bought a home in rural Pennsylvania, not far from where Yolanda Hadid lives, the Daily Mail said. He and Hadid were supposedly living their half time.

Over the summer, Gigi Hadid said in an interview that the musician usually takes her mother’s side during family discussions.
