PlayStation Plus free games for February 2022 revealed

It’s too cold for rollercoaster parks so why not make your own?

PlayStation Plus’ free games for February 2022 have been officially announced, ahead of them dropping on the service in just a few days.

The subscription service has had some really strong months over the last year, and while we wouldn’t say that this is one them, there’s still one game we’d recommend checking out.

That game is Planet Coaster: Console Edition. It’s only the PS5 version, but you can still claim it even if you haven’t got your hands on the new system just yet, and download it when you do.

If you’re a fan of the old Rollercoaster Tycoon or Theme Park World games, you know exactly what you are getting here. You get to build and manage a park, making sure your customers are happy and you’ve got enough money.

You can chill at your own pace or up the difficulty in Challenge Mode. Keyboard and mouse is also supported.

Why Fans Aren’t Happy About the Free PS Plus Games for February 2022

Many PlayStation Plus subscribers aren’t happy with the free PS Plus games that Sony is giving away for February 2022.

Every month, PlayStation Plus subscribers are treated to a new batch of free games that they can add to their collection. Since the launch of the PlayStation 5 in November 2020, the free PlayStation Plus games lineup has typically consisted of one PS5 game and two PS4 titles. February 2022 sticks closely to that rule, though it seems many fans are extremely unimpressed with next month’s offerings.

The free PS Plus games for February 2022 have resulted in some controversy as there are many subscribers who are not happy with the lineup. And while some may be quick to say that it’s silly to get mad over “free” games, it’s worth pointing out that the free games are originally what PS Plus was for to begin with. Unlike Xbox Live Gold, which primarily sold itself as a way to play multiplayer games online and added free games later, PS Plus originated as a service to give PlayStation fans discounts and free games. Requiring PS Plus to play games online wasn’t a thing until the PlayStation 4 was introduced.

Since the original primary reason for a PlayStation Plus subscription was to get the free games, it’s understandable that subscribers sometimes get upset about what Sony has on offer. It’s happened numerous times in the past and will happen again, just like there will be popular, well-received months as well. However, it seems that there are many PS Plus subscribers who feel as though the February 2022 free games are egregiously bad, and there definitely reasons for why they feel that way.

How much does PlayStation Plus cost?

There are three payment options for PS Plus: a monthly payment of $9.99, a quarterly payment of $24.99 and a yearly payment of $59.99.

Can you play GTA online without PS Plus?

PS4 and PS5 players will usually need a PS Plus subscription to play GTA Online.

However, the online mode is often made playable without this subscription for a short period of time. This was also the case recently, as several players were able to access the game for a limited time.
This was also the case recently, as several players were able to access the game for a limited time. This article features everything that PlayStation players should know about the PS Plus requirement for GTA Online.

What happens when PS Plus expires?

When you cancel PlayStation Plus, you will have access to all PlayStation Plus subscription benefits until the end date of your paid subscription. Once that date passes, you will lose access to all benefits, including monthly games, online storage, and online multiplayer capabilities.
When your PlayStation Plus subscription ends, you will no longer have access to free content that you downloaded as part of PlayStation Plus.

If you choose to reactivate an expired PlayStation Plus subscription, you will regain access to this content. PlayStation Plus discounted purchases and any PlayStation Plus packs and avatars you’ve redeemed will still be available to you even after your subscription ends.

What is the difference between PlayStation Plus and PlayStation?

Sony’s PlayStation platform extends beyond the console itself, encompassing multiple services, including PlayStation Now (PS Now) and PlayStation Plus (PS Plus). Both of these services are optional and, because of the naming structure, it can be easy to mix them up. In reality, both are very different from each other, and there’s an easy way to quickly tell them apart.
Though both PS Plus and PS Now are optional, it’s fair to say that PS Now is a bit more optional than its counterpart. Whereas a PS Plus subscription is necessary to access a core game feature (online multiplayer), PS Now is a separate platform that doesn’t have anything to do with playing the games you already own.

Instead, PS Now is a game streaming service sort of like Stadia, though limited to the PlayStation console. Paying subscribers are able to access a huge library of PlayStation games, including old favorites released for the PS2 – PS4, and stream them over the Internet. As such, PS Now enables immediate gameplay for games you don’t actually own, no downloads required.

The downside is that PS Now requires a very reliable and fast Internet connection, otherwise, you’ll run into issues with game quality (stuttering, buffering, etc.), as well as, potentially, times when you’re presented with an error warning the connection isn’t fast enough to stream at all. The service isn’t always reliable, either. I have, for example, been a subscriber for years, and though the experience has overall been great, there are times I’ve had to stop playing due to lag despite having a 200Mbps connection.

Fortunately, Sony offers a free trial period for those who’ve never previously signed up, giving all PlayStation console owners the chance to try the service out for themselves and make sure it works well with their Internet connection. If you like what you experience, the subscription is priced at $9.99/month if you pay monthly, $24.99 if you pay for three months at once, and $59.99 if you pay for an entire year upfront.

Is PS Plus worth?

If you love playing games on your PS4 or PS5, there’s no doubt that PlayStation Plus is worth it. You can take the action online in multiplayer, nab loads of great free games, and enjoy additional benefits like in-game cosmetics and discounts. Even if you just get it for the games, it’s worth it.

Can PS Plus be shared?

While you are a PlayStation Plus subscriber, you can share selected benefits on one PlayStation®5 console with Console Sharing and Offline Play activated, and one PlayStation®4 console that is activated as your primary PS4 console.

Do you keep PS Plus games after subscription ends?

Once your PlayStation Plus subscription ends, content you previously downloaded at no cost as part of the subscription (such as PS Plus monthly games) will no longer be available. However, redeemed PlayStation Plus packs and avatars, and PlayStation Plus discounted purchases are yours to keep.
