Monolith Productions is a video game developer based in Kirkland, Washington, that was founded in 1994. The studio has developed a number of critically acclaimed games, including the F.E.A.R. series, Condemned, and Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor. The latter game, released in 2014, introduced the patented Nemesis System, which allowed non-playable characters to remember their prior actions against the game’s protagonist and react accordingly. Monolith Productions was acquired by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment in 2004 and has since become a subsidiary of the company.
