What is the JAC O pose

What is the JAC O pose? What’s the origin? How to do it?

Jack O Pose or JAC O pose is a pose performed by the Guilty Gear character Jack-O Valentine. The character makes this pose when they go into their crouching animation. Memes about the post have been made since 2019, most commonly with redraws of other characters being done to put them into the same position as Jack-O. In mid-August 2021, the Jack-O Challenge trend began circulating social media where participants take pictures of themselves doing the Jack-O Pose, often with humorous intent.

What is the JAC O pose?

The Jack-O challenge involves having someone attempt to recreate Jack-O’s crouching pose. Compared to most characters in fighting games, Jack-O pose certainly has one of the most unique. It is unknown who exactly started the trend, but it quickly took over Twitter. Various people have been posting pictures of themselves in the pose. Artists as well have been drawing all sorts of characters doing the same.

Jack-o pose #jackochallenge (GUILTY GEAR STRIVE)

A new fighting game character has lead to a viral art trend that involves drawing a character—any character—with their ass up in the air.

If you asked an alien to explain the human concept of metal music without ever listening to it, you’d probably end up with something like the Guilty Gear series. This fighting game series is more or less themed around metal music, featuring characters like Axl Low and Slash, and moves named things like Ride the Lightning.

Jack-O Valentine, a character new to the series, also has homages to power metal band Halloween, beyond just looking like a jack o’lantern. But the character has gone viral for a much simpler reason. Jack-O’s crouch pose has them resting their chin on the ground, with their legs spread and ass in the air.

For reasons that become obvious when you look at them, people have been unable to resist drawing other characters in this pose. Jack-O is basically acting out that old 2 Live Crew song: Face Down, Ass Up. This trend is called #jackopose, and for the past week it has completely taken over twitter. Some jackopose drawings are sexy, a great deal of them involve lovingly rendered buttholes, and some are truly great shitposts.

The jackopose hashtag is decidedly not safe for work, so browse with caution. If you’d like to replicate this pose at home, please, remember to stretch.

Origin of JAC O pose

In May 2016 Guilty Gear Xrd REVELATOR released for PlayStation 3 and 4. One of the new playable characters was Jack-O Valentine, a young woman who fights with a ball and chain and several minions with a gameplay style inspired by the MOBA-esque entry Guilty Gear II. On April 5th, 2016, the official trailer for the game was uploaded on YouTube[1] by the Gamespot channel, earning 217,000 views in five years.

One of the earliest known memes relating to her crouch came on October 8th, 2019, when Guilty Gear content creator @munchyjr_ posted on his Twitter and YouTube[2] channel a video called “Absolute Queen.” The video, which received 4 million views in two years, is a bait-and-switch where another Guilty Gear character, Potemkin, is shown doing her pose with the song “Ordinary Days V2” by Klaus Veen playing in the background.

How to do the Jack O pose?

The Jack-O pose involves the character pressing her upper body flat to the ground. She has her feet spread wide with her hips raised high into the air. The near-impossible-to-copy pose gained popularity on social media soon after the character’s release.

The trend became insanely popular in a short amount of time. At its peak, there were over 300 posts per hour featuring this hashtag. Most of them were posts with users drawing their favourite video game characters in the Jack O pose. But some included people trying out the Jack O position in real life. The hashtag has gotten so much traction that even Guilty Gear Strive’s developer, Arc System Works’ official Twitter posted a memey tweet about it.

Jack-O’ from Guilty Gear sparks new Jack-O Pose social media trend

Jack-O’ is an artificially created human designed to prevent the revival of Justice, the God of Destruction. She contains fragments of the soul of Aria, the once love interest of the game’s main protagonist, Sol. Aria’s personality, though hidden deep in her consciousness, has blended with that of Jack-O’s, resulting in a constant state of mental instability.

Jack-O’ made her first appearance in the Guilty Gear series back in August 2015 as part of Guilty Gear Xrd -Revelator- and has now joined Guilty Gear -Strive- as a DLC character. Season Pass holders were given access to Jack-O’ on August 27, 2021 and she was then made available as a stand-alone purchase on August 30, 2021.

However, the majority of the attention Jack-O’ has been attracting seems to be centered around her crouching idle animation. As mentioned earlier, the Jack-O Pose is a rather uncouth pose in which one presses their upper body flat to the ground, then spreads their feet apart while raising their hips high in the air. The hashtag #jackochallenge has been trending among the international community and is showing no signs of slowing down.

What’s more, the pose has transcended the confines of the Guilty Gear series. Now, a quick search for the hashtag reveals a plethora of fan art depicting a wide range of characters in the Jack-O Pose. We do recommend exercising caution if you plan on doing so, however, as the very nature of the pose involves accentuating a person’s sexy bits. But regardless of whether you go looking or not, you may have already come across the suggestive pose on your social media feeds. So in case you were wondering, Jack-O’ is where it all began.

Tifa Lockhart Jack-O Pose Statue is unlicensed and unadulterated

The Tifa Lockhart Jack-O Pose Statue is available for pre-order on the digital hobby store FavorGK with an estimated release window of March of 2023.

The unlicensed, unofficial Tifa Lockhart figure is done by fans at EA Studio (not to be confused with Electronic Arts the game publisher), and it comes in three different versions: Standard (pictured), Advanced with Exchangeable Nude Body, and Advanced with Exchangeable Battle Suit Nude Body.

Getting in to the detailing of the statue we have to say EA Studio did a fantastic job from the pictures of the prototype they captured Tifa’s face and hair beautifully. The little details such as the Materia on her gloves secured by tiny chains adds a lot to the figure (the Buster Sword is pretty great too).

For physical status, the statue comes in at 1/4th scale with a height of 14 inches (36cm) and width of 14 inches (36cm) and an overall diameter of 16 inches(41cm) estimated so not a very big statue.

The Tifa Lockhart figure is currently on sale as an “early bird” special till Friday the 13th of May for $544.99 USD. The original price was $579.99.

The entire set of JAC O pose will cost a total of $728.99 ($783.99 without the sale’s price), definitely more on the pricey side for an unlicensed statue. However, if you’re into statue collecting, or are a very hardcore Final Fantasy fan I would consider this a must have.
