When Will Street Fighter 6 Be Released? What Would Be The Platforms & Characters

STREET FIGHTER 6 was revealed at the Capcom Pro Tour 2021 Season Final in February, and that means fans of the iconic fighting game franchise are amped and ready to kick off another round of hard-hitting, combo-breaking action. Here’s everything we know about Street Fighter 6 including a recap of its trailers, our expectations for its roster, and our best predictions for when the game is expected to come out.

WHEN WILL STREET FIGHTER 6 BE RELEASED?

Capcom has not yet revealed a specific release date for Street Fighter 6. That said, the publisher has promised that fans will be able to learn more about the game sometime this summer. We imagine this might involve a showing during Geoff Keighley’s Summer Game Fest, E3, or an equivalent livestream hosted by Capcom itself.

The game has been a known quantity following a Capcom hack in late 2020, suggesting the project should be fairly deep in development at this point. Expecting a release date in late 2022 or sometime in 2023 sounds reasonable to us. Street Fighter V was released in February of 2016, so it’s possible Capcom may be eying a similar release window for its successor next year. The publisher has, after all, had a decent deal of success with Q1 releases like Resident Evil 7 and Monster Hunter: World, so they may opt to repeat that pattern with Street Fighter.

Street Fighter 6 – Teaser Trailer

A 30-second teaser trailer for Street Fighter 6 arrived as a surprise to viewers of the Capcom Pro Tour Finale in February. The footage doesn’t reveal much beyond a very wide Ryu preparing for battle against series newcomer, Luke. Luke was previously teased as an important character for the future of the Street Fighter franchise, and we see that implication manifested here.

Street Fighter 6 Story and Gameplay

Story is a bit of a loose word when applied to Street Fighter, which does have lore and backstory for its characters, but typically doesn’t focus too much on campaigns and story modes, compared to some of the more melodramatic alternatives in the fighting game scene.

We’d expect that to continue to be the case, but there will likely still be some form of solo mode that lets you try out different fighters and styles. Something like Super Smash Bros. Ultimate’s Spirits mode might be a great idea, letting you try out a huge range of stages and approaches.

We know at least two of the game’s final roster – classic fighter Ryu and DLC character Luke are the two facing off in the game’s first trailer. You can bet on some other series stalwarts like Chun-Li being there, too.

Will Street Fighter 6 run on the RE Engine?

Capcom’s RE Engine has been the engine of choice for most of Capcom’s recent AAA projects including Resident Evil Village, Devil May Cry 5 and Monster Hunter Rise. And rumors suggest that Street Fighter 6 will join that RE Engine line-up – at least according to known insider AestheticGamer.

While not confirmed, Capcom making use of the RE Engine for Street Fighter 6 seems like a foregone conclusion. Every major Capcom IP has been built on the engine in recent years, including upcoming 2023 releases Pragmata and Exoprimal. It only makes sense, then, for the Japanese developer to use its in-house engine for its premier fighting game series.

Ryu’s design based on his real-world inspiration?

Ever wondered why Ryu appears to be built like a fridge in Street Fighter 6? His latest rendition is perhaps the widest we’ve ever seen, but there may be a very good reason for that.

Fans have speculated that Ryu’s look in Street Fighter 6 is directly based on the character’s real-world inspiration; that of Kyokushin style karate founder Masutatsu Oyama. Oyama is one of Japan’s most influential martial artists and earned himself the nickname of “The Godhand” (thanks, EventHubs).

Oyama’s iconically stocky form could well be the inspiration for the older, more chiselled Ryu we see in Street Fighter 6.

Street Fighter 6 Characters

Street Fighter 5 launched with 16 characters, but following five different seasons of content, actually reached more than 40.

Whether all of those characters would make the jump to Street Fighter 6 is anyone’s guess, but it’s fair to assume that usual suspects like Ryu, Chun-Li, Dhalsim, Ken and M. Bison will make the jump.

There’s also Luke, Street Fighter V’s final DLC character for Season 5 that releases on November 29th. Notably, Capcom called him “a glimpse into the future” and during the Fall Update video below, Capcom advised, “we’ll be back with more news about the future of Street Fighter“. Hopefully, we’ll hear more soon.

Street Fighter 6 Platforms

A new email surfaced in the big Capcom leak suggests that not only is the game allegedly coming to PC and PS5, but also Xbox Series S and Series X, too. Other platforms listed are PS4 and Xbox One, suggesting a cross-generation release.

Street Fighter 5 was previously not available on Xbox consoles, but with Microsoft’s growing user base it stands to reason that Capcom’s next title in the series is a multi-platform release. Only time will tell.

Street Fighter 6 On Play Station 5

The last entry of the street fighter was in 2016, it’s Street Fighter 5. Including it and the previous other Street Fighter games, no one came on the Play Station platform. It is said by the developers that like the previous Street Fighter games, Street Fighter 6 will also be not available on PlayStation 6. Though the game has not been released yet and there’s a lot of time left for its release, it’s too early to say anything like this. Modern technology is a complex thing and the people’s craze about the PlayStation has increased unexpectedly.

So it’s better to wait till the Street Fighter 6 Release Date, it might be possible that the company has something under their sleeves. Also, Tekken 8 Release Date is going to announce soon.

Street Fighter 6 On Xbox

There are rumors saying that the new Street Fighter will also be there for Xbox. That is possible as the game is already there for Microsoft Windows so maybe will see the next part for Xbox also, but still, official confirmation is yet to come.

Street Fighter 6 System Requirements

Initially, the company has not told anything about the minimum or the recommended system requirement for Street Fighter 6 but we can look at the recommended system requirement for Street Fighter 5 and guess that this will be the minimum Street Fighter 6 System Requirements.

  • CPU – Intel Core i5-4690k or AMD FX-9370

Is Street Fighter Alpha A prequel?

Is Alpha 3 The Best Street Fighter?

As a result, alpha 3 is one of the most balanced Street Fighter games regarding the characters’ strength and gameplay. The graphics and animation were about as good as 2D fighters get. The player control in Alpha 3 was also just about perfect.
