But FFVII Remake is not the complete story of the original game. It’s barely the first act. The game is set entirely in Midgar, with Square Enix opting to blow out an experience that was previously a few hours long into a full game — an episodic take that shouldn’t work and yet… does.

Why Final Fantasy is so popular?
Why do so many people like the Final Fantasy franchise?
You might look at Metal Gear Solid and wonder what the appeal is, but I think it’s pretty clear. It’s a playable movie. You are the protagonist of a super spy action film, and an exceptionally good one.
Likewise, in Resident Evil or Silent Hill, you’re controlling the protagonist of a truly terrifying horror film, which happens to be full of puzzles.
We’re experiencing the story, we’re influencing the outcome, the whole experience is challenging, and you feel accomplished when you overcome those challenges.
Is Final Fantasy 7 Remake still free?
Back in March, Final Fantasy 7 Remake was one of the free monthly games available for PS Plus, Sony’s monthly subscription service. The free version was for the PS4, and now the upgrade to the PS5 version will be made available for free starting Wednesday, according to a tweet from publisher Square Enix on Monday.
This is a change of stance by Square Enix from what it said in June. When the company revealed the first add-on content for the remake, Intermission, it said there would be a free upgrade from the PS4 to the PS5 for Final Fantasy 7 Remake owners. However, the exception to this offer was those who received the game via PS Plus in March. This left many who had a PS5 unable to enjoy the superior version as they could with other games.
Is FF7 remake better on PS5?
Final Fantasy 7 Remake’s Performance Mode on the PS5 makes it the best way to revisit the modern reimagining of this beloved classic.
Final Fantasy 7 Remake still stands tall as one of the best-looking games on the PS4, and running it on a brand new PS5 with the latest upgrades yields interesting results. Watch our comparison video below to see the differences between the game running on a PS4 Pro and a PS5.
The PS5 version of the game has two options, a 30fps Graphics mode and a 60fps Performance mode. From our tests, the graphics mode seems to be gunning for a native 4K resolution, which certainly looks significantly better than the PS4 Pro version of the game, which runs at 1620p. PS5’s performance mode knocks the resolution down, but succeeds in holding a steady 60 fps.
Unlike the original game, Final Fantasy 7 Remake features real-time combat, which instantly makes the 60fps mode the best in our opinion. The fluidity of the combat system and responsiveness of the controls have a noticeable impact, which are two of the biggest reasons why you should opt for the performance mode if you plan on playing the game on a PS5.
Final Fantasy 14 Is Apparently the World’s Most Played MMORPG
Final Fantasy 14 might be closer to World of Warcraft in terms of active players than ever before. According to statistics by MMO Population, Final Fantasy 14 is currently sitting at around 2.49 million active players, compared to World of Warcraft’s 2.19 million active players. These statistics do come with a few caveats, however.
The biggest caveat before taking any of these numbers seriously is the source. Neither Blizzard nor Square Enix are particularly open about player numbers or subscriber counts these days. According to MMO Population, the numbers are extrapolated by using nebulous statistics like sentiment tracking and online social activiy.
“It’s difficult to track hidden MMO subscriber numbers, but we do our best,” says MMO Population’s data page. ” By combining online social activity, sentiment tracking, public statistics, rankings and more MMO Populations estimates the total subscribers, players and active daily players for the top MMOs.”
