‘Way 2 Sexy’ music video : Kawhi Leonard dances with Drake, Future, Young Thug in ‘Way 2 Sexy’ music video

Drake | Future | Kawhi Leonard | Young Thug

Plenty of NBA players have been tweeting about Drake‘s new album “Certified Lover Boy,” but only one was worthy of appearing in his new music video: Kawhi Leonard, of course.

The Clippers star made a cameo in the music video for “Way 2 Sexy,” which was released on Friday and features rappers Future and Young Thug. Leonard helped the trio recreate the visuals from Boyz II Men’s “Water Runs Dry” video, complete with all-white outfits and choreographed dancing. (If there are any Clippers fans concerned about Leonard jamming too hard after offseason knee surgery, don’t worry. The movements were pretty limited.)

Leonard also gave the NBA Twitterverse plenty of meme fuel with this Ricky Bobby-esque pose.

The Drake-Kawhi connection goes back to the 2018-19 season, when Leonard led the Raptors to the NBA title with one of the most impressive individual playoff runs in league history. Drake, a Toronto native and official brand ambassador for the Raptors, was routinely seen cheering on his hometown squad from the sidelines and hopped on the team bus for the championship parade two years ago.

Even with that bit of context, though, no one could have seen this coming. But surprise appearances are just the kind of thing that “fun guys” do.

You can watch the full “Way 2 Sexy” video below. (Note: There is explicit language.)

Kawhi Leonard makes surprise appearance in Drake’s music video

Drake’s highly anticipated album ‘Certified Lover Boy’ dropped Friday

Kawhi Leonard made the surprise of the NBA offseason when he appeared in a new music video from Drake, who released his highly anticipated album “Certified Lover Boy” on Friday.

Leonard appeared in a desert scene alongside Future and Young Thug for the song “Way 2 Sexy.” The song samples the Right Said Fred hit “I’m Too Sexy” from 1991. But Leonard’s appearance in the music stunned the NBA world.

The Los Angeles Clippers star has a rapport with Drake.

Leonard helped bring an NBA title to the Toronto Raptors during the 2018-19 season. It was his lone season with the Raptors. Drake is a team ambassador for the Raptors and a Toronto native.
While Leonard appeared in the music video, Atlanta Hawks star Trae Young gave a hot take about the newly released album and wondered whether Drake had surpassed Jay-Z as the best rapper of all time.

“Certified Lover Boy” was originally slated for earlier this year but was pushed back several months. In between, Drake released “Scary Hours 2” to keep fans at bay.
Drake has never shied away from using athletes in his music videos. For the 2020 song “Laugh Now Cry Later,” Cleveland Browns star Odell Beckham Jr. caught passes in the video.

Drake Flexes A Beer Gut, Grey Hair & MoreWild Looks For ‘Way 2 Sexy’ Video

Drake channeled a serious variety of looks in his new video for ‘Way 2 Sexy’ and paid tribute to Michael Jackson, Prince, and the Backstreet Boys.

Drake‘s new album Certified Lover Boy is officially here, and fans got an extra treat when he dropped the video for “Way 2 Sexy” featuring Future and Young Thug. The Dave Meyers-directed visuals show Drake channeling everyone from Michael Jackson to the Backstreet Boys, as he referenced a slew of iconic pop culture moments.
In one scene, he was even seen sporting a beer belly and grey hair while walking along the beach in what appeared to be Coney Island. Another shot showed him advertising a faux fragrance entitled “Wet, by Drake” before jumping back into scenes seemingly inspired romance novels and Italian icon Fabio Lanzoni. The clip also featured a brief cameo from former Toronto Raptors player Kawhi Leonard, who was seen dancing alongside Drizzy, Future, and Young Thug.
The album is already being well-received by fans, who were quick to notice he name-dropped Ayesha Curry on one of the tracks. “How am I supposed to wife it? You not Ayesha enough,” Drake raps on the song “Race My Mind.” As fans would know, Ayesha herself is already taken — her husband is NBA star, Stephen Curry, who jumped onto Twitter to congratulate the Canadian chart-topper on his new music.
“Congrats Bro,” he wrote, while Ayesha re-posted Drake’s Instagram post and added several clapping emojis. Clearly, the pair are big Drake fans, however it’s unclear if they were fore-warned about the Ayesha name-check on the album. Fans also noticed a possible diss directed at Drake’s longtime rival Kanye West on the track, “7am on Bridle Path.” The song’s title references Drake’s address in Toronto – which Yeezy posted in a now-deleted screenshot.
While Drake doesn’t mention Kanye by name, he seems to refer to him on the track. “Give that address to your driver, make it your destination / ‘Stead of just a post out of desperation,” he raps, per Genius. “ This me reachin’ the deepest state of my meditation / Why you over there tryna impress the nation? / Minds runnin’ wild with the speculation.” Certified Lover Boy album was initially slated to drop at the beginning of 2021, but was pushed back several months. The album features 21 songs, including collaborations with some of the biggest artists in the rap game, including Travis Scott, JAY-Z, Lil Wayne, Rick Ross, Kid Cudi and more.

Kawhi Leonard is a meme-worthy backup dancer in Drake’s ‘Way 2 Sexy’ video

All everyone can talk about on Friday is Drake’s new album, Certified Lover Boy, dropping, whether it’s the guest stars, jokes or the athletes who were name-dropped (there was also one very bad take courtesy of Trae Young).

And now, there’s another sports/Drake tie-in: Kawhi Leonard, who won a title for the Toronto Raptors not too long ago, makes an appearance in the video that just came out for Way 2 Sexy.

And he dances!!

It’s pretty amazing to see him performing a choreographed set of moves in an all-white uniform and the internet already can’t get enough of the whole thing:
