New Muv-Luv Project Mikhail Reveals Character Designs With New Artwork

Avex Confirms New Muv-Luv Game Project Immortal Will Be Released By End of 2021 As It Celebrates Anime Debut

Today Avex Group sent a press release announcing that it has achieved full in-house production of both games and anime with the debut of the Muv-Luv Alternative animated series airing today in Japan.

We also hear that the action RPG code-named Project Immortal will launch in Japan (only in Japanese, for now) for mobile platforms by the end of the year.

On top of that, we already know that Project Mikhail will launch in early access this month on Steam with a Nintendo Switch version coming down the line.

This is happening thanks to the collective efforts of Avex’s subsidiaries Avex Pictures, FLAGSHIP LINE, aNCHOR, and Fuzz, as the company intends to continue expanding the Muv-Luv franchise globally.

The animation is produced by Avex Pictures and FLAGSHIP LINE (a joint venture with Graphinica), also taking advantage of the animation quality of Graphinica’s own subsidiary Yumeta Company.

Project Mikhail is published by aNCHOR and developed by Fuzz, and Project Immortal is developed with aNCHOR as a publisher.

If you’d like to take a look at the anime, which will air officially today, you can also watch the latest trailer and reveal, and the previous trailer.

If you’re interested in the Muv-Luv franchise in general, during recent events we saw the reveal of the official title of Muv-Luv Resonative (which is the continuation of The Day After ), the announcement of Muv-Luv Alternative: Total Eclipse, and new gameplay and details for Project Mikhail.

A few months ago, we also heard the much-awaited announcement that Kimi Ga Nozomu Eien (also known as Rumbling Hearts) will finally be released in English.

New Muv-Luv Action Game Project Mikhail Reveals Character Designs With New Artwork

Today Muv-Luv publisher aNCHOR updated the official website of the new game of the franchise, Project Mikhail, with new artwork.

This time around, we finally get to take a look at the character design for the six main characters of Muv-Luv Alternative, Takeru Shirogane, Meiya Mitsurugi, Chizuru Sakaki, Kei Ayamine, Miki Tamase, and Mikoto Yoroi.

Incidentally, even if you have not played the original visual novels, you’ll soon be able to meet them since the Muv-Luv Alternative anime starts airing today.

You can check them all out below, while we wait for the release via Steam early access this month. A Switch release is also planned at a later time.

If you’re unfamiliar with Project Mikhail, here’s how the developer describes it. You can also watch the previous trailer.

Set on an Earth where mankind is being steadily annihilated by the alien invaders known as the BETA, Project MIKHAIL lets you pilot a Tactical Surface Fighter in the war to save humanity!

The BETA bring overwhelming numbers and massive size to the war against mankind.
Some are massive, standing 66 meters tall. Some are capable of charging into an enemy at incredible speeds and smashing them to bits with their thick frontal plating. And some can fire powerful lasers from over 300 kilometers away. Each BETA will require different tactics to defeat.

Muv-Luv Alternative

Muv-Luv Alternative is based on the second game of the Muv-Luv franchise by âge and streams on Crunchyroll on Wednesdays.

Muv-Luv is one of those sprawling franchises I’ve always wanted to get in to. Sadly, at the moment, I have only seen the spinoff Schwarzes Marken (which helpfully takes place in the Muv-Luv Alternative timeline, though in the 1980s).

However, the big fans I’ve talked to all seem to agree that Muv-Luv Alternative is the pinnacle of the franchise—and after even only a single episode, I think I am beginning to see why.

This special, limited availability version of the second Blu-ray Box, which contains episodes 7 to 12, costs 29,260 yen with tax (~US$262.51), as opposed to the regular version’s 21,780 yen (`~US$195.41).

The first Blu-ray Box of Muv-Luv Alternative also offers a limited edition option, with its special feature being an original drama CD featuring the main cast of the show. The limited edition version costs 24,200 yen with tax (~US$217.26) while the regular version costs 21,780 yen with tax (~US$195.54)

Muv-Luv

Muv-Luv is a Japanese visual novel developed by âge and originally released as an adult game for Windows on February 28, 2003.

Consisting of two parts, Muv-Luv Extra and Muv-Luv Unlimited, the gameplay in Muv-Luv follows a linear plot line, which offers pre-determined scenarios and courses of interaction, and focuses on the differing scenarios of the female main characters.

Muv-Luv was followed by a sequel, Muv-Luv Alternative,[g] which was released for Windows on April 24, 2006 and follows the storyline of Muv-Luv Unlimited.

The trilogy’s story initially presents itself as a light-hearted romantic comedy (Extra), but changes into an alternate timeline coming-of-age story (Unlimited), and finally evolves into an alien invasion war epic (Alternative).
