What is an alien biome in Fortnite?
The world of Fortnite is always changing. In fact, sometimes it merges with entirely new worlds.
In the case of Chapter 2 Season 7, there’s even a weird alien biome to be found near the center of the island. This glowing purple space is filled with strange plants, fierce enemies, and, of course, loot.
But is that all there is? What are alien biomes, and what are they designed to do?

Place a BIOSCANNER in an Alien Biome is a Fortnite Season 7 Challenge and I show bioscanner locations as well as how to place a bioscanner in an alien biome in order to complete this challenge!
What is an alien biome? Fortnite
In Fortnite, alien biomes are small areas filled with alien creatures. They’re easy to spot thanks to the purple glow that surrounds them. Inside, you can expect to encounter lowered gravity as well as alien objects, enemies, parasites.
Without diving too far into the specifics, these new biomes were added as part of the Chapter 2 Season 7 storyline.
As for their purpose, they’re often tied into challenges. For example, players currently need to place Bioscanners within alien biomes in order to complete this week’s fifth challenge.
Thankfully, you shouldn’t have a hard time finding them. Aside from the obvious purple glow, there’s only one big alien biome to be found on the island.
It’s at Holly Hatchery, and within you’ll find three places you can drop a Bioscanner to complete the challenge.
Otherwise, the only other fixed alien biome location in Fortnite is on the Mothership.
Or, perhaps more accurately is the mothership, as the whole area is affected by lowered gravity. Players can also spawn their own tiny biomes by deploying Alien Nanites.
It’s better not to ask what alien biomes are, but instead what they’re for. Namely, they’re for having fun; a place where players congregate to take out weird creatures and find new gear. But these tiny little biomes are also an important place to complete the latest weekly challenge.

Want to know how to get the Clark Kent skin in Fortnite?
In order to unlock the Fortnite Superman skin, you first need to unlock his alter ego, Clark Kent. Thankfully, getting this free Fortnite skin is as simple as completing a few tasks, most of which have links to previously introduced mechanics in the latest season of the popular battle royale game.
Completing these challenges will also net you a whole bunch of experience for the battle pass, but they’re far from the only challenges out there you can complete.
The legendary challenges include placing a bioscanner in an alien biome, eliminating trespassers, finding a detector to disable an alien billboard, and placing spy probes.
You also need to complete epic challenges to unlock various Superman-related cosmetic items, so you may be interested in learning how to bring the Fortnite alien samples to Corny Complex.
But we’re getting a little ahead of ourselves. You’ll first need to complete a set of challenges to get the Clark Kent skin, and we have the list of seven tasks you need to finish. All of them are relatively straightforward to complete, so we’ll just get right to it.
Fortnite Clark Kent challenges
After an earlier issue where the NPCs wouldn’t appear on the map, you can now find Clark Kent, Beast Boy, and Armored Batman on the Fortnite map.
You will first need to get challenges from one of three different NPCs: Clark Kent, Armored Batman, and Beast Boy. They are located at the farmers market southeast of Craggy Cliffs, close to the sea in Dirty Docks, and on the wooden bridge in Weeping Woods respectively. Each one has three challenges that you have to complete.
To get the Clark Kent skin in Fortnite, you need to complete five of the following challenges:
- Take damage from a player and survive
- Reach 99 speed in a vehicle
- Use a launchpad
- Fly a saucer
- Visit three different named locations
Visit the Mothership or Alien Biome
- Defeat aliens
There are some challenges that you may get a bit stuck on if you don’t know where to go, but thankfully we have some guides that go into a bit more detail.
With any luck, the abductors should be back soon so you can visit the Fortnite mothership.
The best vehicle to reach that top speed in the game currently is the Ferrari 296 GTB, which is found in certain garages. You can find launchpads in any one of the Fortnite satellite stations scattered throughout the map, while flying a saucer is as simple as shooting down one of the Fortnite UFOs to eliminate one of the many trespassers now on the map.
We recommend that you use the UFO to mop up any named locations you’ve not visited as part of the relevant challenge.
This will take care of the vast majority of the challenges, and it’s likely you’ve taken damage from a player – and hopefully survived – in the process. If you’re looking for more Fortnite skins to unlock, why not check out how to unlock the Gamora skin, or hunt down any one of the Fortnite alien artifacts you’ve not picked up yet?
You can unlock more Kymera styles with these items – and the season’s nearly over, so grab them while you can If you’re a fan of Naruto or Kevin the Cube, you may want to check out everything we currently know about Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 8 release date.
Where do you find an alien biome in Fortnite?
There are two specific places where you will be able to find an alien biome in Fortnite.
The first is at Holly Hatchery. This POI was renamed to Holly Hatchery after the aliens took over it.
It all started with the big location in the middle and then slowly the surrounding houses started succumbing to the alien invasion.
The second location is within the alien Mothership itself. Although you won’t see any alien life inside there, it still is an alien biome.
There’s low gravity all around, allowing you to float your way through. Not only that, you’ll find remnants of the abducted sites in there too.
