Overwatch 2 Beta Release Date, Sign Up Guide, System Requirements and Features

Overwatch 2 is gearing up for its full release, but there’s still work to do. Overwatch 2 Beta will kick off its PvP Beta on April 26.

How to Sign Up for the Overwatch 2 Beta

Below are the steps to sign up for the Overwatch 2 beta.

Go to the Overwatch website

Go to the Overwatch website and click on the “Join Beta” next to Tracer’s photo. You’ll then be prompted to another page that explains what you’re getting in the upcoming closed beta.

Click on the Sign Up

Scroll down the page to find where you can sign up. You can click on the “Opt-in Now” button to quickly take you below the page. You’ll be able to see the button where you can sign up for the closed beta.

Login to your Battle.net Account

Once you’ve clicked on the sign up button, the page will take you to Battle.net where you’ll be asked to login and then provide details of your account. After all that is done, you have officially signed up for the Overwatch 2 closed beta. Now all you need to do is wait for an invite from Blizzard.

Is the Overwatch 2 PvP Beta free?

The Overwatch 2 PvP Beta is free for players who already own a copy of Overwatch. If you have Overwatch in your library, you can sign up for the PvP Beta for your chance to participate.

The first closed beta will be PC exclusive, meaning console players will need to wait for upcoming Beta stages to be able to test the game on their favorite platform.

Players who get accepted into the beta will receive an email from Blizzard, and the number of invitees will be based on Blizzard’s testing needs. Developers tend to start off with small groups of players to make sure they don’t overload the servers.

Throughout the duration of the beta, more players are likely to be invited to test the game, and finally, there should be an open beta to allow everyone to experience the game before the release.

What systems can you play Overwatch 2 Beta on?

It’s almost time for the Overwatch franchise to take the next step. Overwatch 2 still doesn’t have an exact release date, but beta tests indicate that it may not be that far off in the future.

Overwatch 2’s PvP Beta will kick off on April 26, and the sign-ups are open. Players looking to participate in the beta will need to own a copy of the original game, and you can purchase it before registering as well.

The first stage of the PvP Beta will only be available for PC players, meaning Overwatch fans on consoles will be on the sidelines for the time being. This is likely to change in the future, however, since each beta stage invites more players to test out the game.

Once the developers iron out most of the bugs during the PC beta, they should launch another beta stage that also involves the console players. Given the requirements for the first beta, players will likely need a copy of the original Overwatch to access the beta when it also becomes available on consoles.

Throughout the beta, players will get to enjoy new maps, game modes, and the five-vs-five gameplay. Additionally, there will also be a new agent in the beta, Sojourn, ending the game’s hero drought that lasted over a year. The devs, on the other hand, will be collecting lots of data regarding the gameplay and continue to perfect Overwatch 2 for its upcoming global release.

Overwatch 2 beta gameplay & new features

It’s safe to expect some major changes with Overwatch 2 and players will get their first taste during the beta period. Perhaps the biggest change is the shift from 6-vs-6 gameplay to 5-vs-5. The game will certainly feel different for most players and the four new maps available during the beta should also add to the fresh feeling.

In addition to new maps, players will be able to test out the new Push mode. This new Overwatch mode will consist of teams competing to move a barricade into their enemy’s base in a tug-of-war fashion.

A new hero named Sojourn is also expected to be available in the beta come April and it’s no shock that players are eager to test out some new abilities. Lastly, players will also get their first look at a new ping system and hero reworks to Orisa, Doomfist, Sombra, and Bastion.

Will Overwatch 2 Be Free?

At the moment, though, we’re under the impression that Overwatch 2 WILL be a separate release and it WON’T be a free one at that. There is still time for this to change, but at the moment, Overwatch 2 can be pre-ordered at certain retailers for around £60.
