Apex Legends: Midseason Split & Ranked Reset: How many ranks do you lose?

Every season in Apex Legends is split in two. Your rank reset at this midway point during the season, but how many ranks can you expect to lose? And what else changes during the midseason split?

Apex Legends: Midseason Split & Ranked Reset

Apex Legends is divided into seasons, like almost every game these days. But what makes Apex slightly different is that there’s a soft reset of everyone’s rank halfway through the season. This keeps things fresh and allows new players the chance to catch up. But when exactly will this rank reset happen? And how will it affect you?

When Is The Season 12 Rank Reset?

The Season 12 midseason reset will happen on Tuesday, April 5 at 12:00 PT (15:00 ET, 20:00 GMT, 21:00 CET). This is when the Weekly Update occurs, and you can usually expect bug fixes and balance changes to be implemented at the same time. It’s also when the shop gets updated, so maybe you can get ranked with a sick new Loba skin.

How Many Ranks Do You Lose In The Reset?

You lose 1.5 tiers during the Apex Legends midseason reset, so if you were at the top of Platinum you go to the middle of Gold, and if you were at the middle of Gold you would go down to the bottom of Silver. This being the case, unless you get to the middle of Silver, it’s basically not worth levelling if you’ve only got a short time left until the split. But if you can’t get past the middle of Silver, maybe you need to go back to the drawing board and rethink the Legend you’re using.

What Other Changes Can You Expect During The Season Split?

Olympus was the map for ranked play in the first part of the season, but King’s Canyon will take over as the ranked play map in the second half of the season. This will be to the delight of a great many players; Olympus is a solid map, but King’s Canyon is the OG and the fan-favorite. And, in fact, it looks like King’s Canyon is set to get even more popular very soon thanks to the return of a classic location.

Apex Legends Season 12 split date

On this date, not only will the map change for Ranked Leagues, but a player’s rank for both Battle Royale Ranked Leagues and Ranked Arenas will be soft reset.

In order to keep things fresh and exciting through the season, the Apex Legends halfway split changes the ranked map and also resets a player’s rank by one and a half levels.

This means that if you finished the first split at Platinum IIII, you will be reset back to Silver II.

Map rotation

For the second split of Apex Legends Season 12, Ranked Leagues will be changing its map from Olympus to Kings Canyon up until the end of the season.

Many consider Kings Canyon to be Apex Legend’s toughest map for ranked, so those who are yet to experience the map in Ranked Leagues are in for a challenge.

Ranked rewards

The reward you receive at the start of the next season will be based on your highest rank achieved in either of the two splits.

For example, if you achieve Diamond rank in Split 1 but don’t play in Split 2, you will still receive the rewards for Diamond rank at the start of the next season. Keep in mind that to gain the rewards for the Apex Predator rank you must retain the rank until the split ends.

Players will obtain a shiny badge if they are able to achieve the same rank across the two splits within a season.

WHY DO I KEEP LOSING MY APEX PREDATOR RANK?

Respawn and EA have changed the way the ranking system in Apex Legends works because in past seasons too many players made it to the top rank, Apex Predator. To combat this, Master tier was added to the game and sits between Diamond and Apex Predator. The RP required to make it to Master will be 10,000RP – the amount previously required for Apex Predator.

But this also means Respawn has made some changes to the way Apex Predator works too. Now, only the top 750 players on each platform will have the title, so your rank is likely to shift in real time between Apex Predator and Master as other players gain and lose RP. However, this is an increase over Season 7, which saw just the top 500 players achieve the rank of Apex Predator.

Does Apex rank reset after split?

Each Ranked Season in Apex Legends is divided into two splits, which will each be played on a different map. Midway through the Season when the maps swap over for the new split, players’ ranks will be soft reset to encourage them to keep grinding to reach the top ranks once again.

What is the ranked split in Apex?

Seasons are divided into two Ranked splits. Splits are the two periods when Rankings will have a soft reset between the two periods in each season, and those in the highest tiers in either split will get rewards.

Does your rank reset in Apex Legends?

At the start of a new season, and when the ranked split changes mid-season, everyone’s rank is reset by one and a half tiers. So if you ended the first split in Platinum II, you would start the new split in Gold IV.

How long does it take for Apex rank to split?

The Apex Legends Ranked Split Date is set for April 5; it is possible the recent Kings Canyon bug delays this but not likely. Just as it is with every major Apex Legends update, players can expect it to go live around 10 AM PT/12 PM CT.
