Who is Tidus in Final Fantasy

Who is Tidus in Final Fantasy? Who is His Love Interest? What is His Weapon?

Tidus is a minor character in the Kingdom Hearts series, originally from Final Fantasy X. He is one of the residents living in Destiny Islands and is part of a trio including Selphie and Wakka.

He is thirteen years old during the events of Kingdom Hearts and Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories and fourteen during Kingdom Hearts II.

Who is Tidus in Final Fantasy

Tidus is the main protagonist of Final Fantasy X. He can be acquired as a Creature Creator ally in the International + Last Mission and HD versions of Final Fantasy X-2, and plays a pivotal role in the extended universe audio drama and novella.

He is a rising star blitzball player from Zanarkand, and the son of major blitzball star Jecht. After the gargantuan monster known as Sin attacks his hometown, Tidus is transported to the world of Spira. Lost, confused, and seemingly out of place, Tidus meets a newly-fledged summoner named Yuna, and her guardians. Yuna is to set out on a pilgrimage to put an end to Sin, and by joining Yuna on her pilgrimage, Tidus hopes he will find his way home. Tidus is upbeat and initially childish and naive to the world of Spira. He is also selfless and will do what he believes is right, even if he doesn’t think it through first.

Tidus has disheveled blond hair with spiky layers. His hair is brown in his childhood flashbacks. He wears the logo of his blitzball team, the Zanarkand Abes, as a silver pendant, and the logo is also printed on his right trouser-leg. Tidus puts his own flair on the regular blitzball player’s outfit by having one shorter and one longer trouser-leg, similar to his father Jecht, who wore a sash on his right side over a pair of shorts. Tidus wears yellow and black shoes, a gauntlet on his left hand and a black glove on the other, a yellow jacket with a white hood, and a blue pauldron and armor over his left arm. The dark dungaree-type outfit he wears over his other clothes is fastened with a black belt that has a metal chain.

The Weapons of Tidus in Final Fantasy

Tidus’s Celestial Weapon, Caladbolg, can be found in the Calm Lands. Once the player has completed their chocobo training, they must race the trainer and beat the trainer’s time. If the player beats the trainer’s time, a man on a slope in the northwest of the Calm Lands will move. If the player beats the trainer’s time, but leaves the Calm Lands before obtaining the Caladbolg, the man will again block the path to the weapon. To solve this, player can race the trainer again. The player doesn’t have to win this race, just trigger the phrase “You already hold the record”.

Down this slope is an altar that, when examined with the Celestial Mirror, grants Tidus the Caladbolg. In the Japanese, German, and Italian versions, the Caladbolg is called Ultima Weapon, in the Spanish it is called Arma Artema (Artema being the name given to the Ultima spell and arma meaning weapon) and is simply called Ultima in the French version.

The Sun Crest is found at a place called The Beyond in Zanarkand Dome after defeating the area’s boss. The player must head to the back of The Beyond and descend either the broken flight of stairs in the back or climb the stairs located near at entrance: they will be teleported to another corner of the room, and the chest containing the Sun Crest will now be at the top of the stairs they just descended. In the European, International, and Final Fantasy X HD Remaster versions, if the player does not obtain the Sun Crest immediately after fighting the area’s boss, they must defeat Dark Bahamut to get it. The player can reenter the chamber to obtain it after speaking with Auron, but before leaving outside.

Who is Tidus love interest in Final Fantasy series?

Yuna is the secondary protagonist in Final Fantasy 10 as well as the main protagonist in Final Fantasy 10-2. She is the love interest to Tidus. She is the daughter to Lord Braska, who defeated Sin 10 years ago, bringing the Calm.

Romance isn’t something that’s seen too often in the Final Fantasy series, but it’s found regularly throughout Final Fantasy X. One of the most iconic examples is the kiss scene between Tidus and Yuna. According to animator Kazuyuki Ikumori though, the team had a lot of trouble making the scene look natural. It was apparently reworked multiple times due to female team members believing that it didn’t look right.

On the subject of romance, the English localization team had to fight to get Yuna’s ‘I love you’ line added to the game’s ending. In the Japanese release, she simply says ‘Thank you’, but the localization team felt that ‘I love you’ made for a more fitting farewell. Despite some resistance from the team in Japan, the line was eventually added – making it one of the only intentional dialogue differences between the Japanese and Western releases of the game.

Final Fantasy X’s Tidus Was Originally A Plumber

In a recent Famitsu interview, Final Fantasy X’s key developers recount bringing the game from conception to completion. “To get the character in the water, for the initial plan, there was a time in which Tidus was to be an underwater plumber,” explained the game’s writer, Kazushige Nojima.

Character designer Tetsuya Nomura even drew illustrations of Tidus, the plumber, but during the course of development, the character was changed to a Blitzball player. Blitzball is an aquatic sport played in FFX, so this was a way to get Tidus in the water without having him fix pipes.

Famitsu asked Nomura if there were any traces of the character previously being a plumber. “The overalls seem to be,” replied Nomura, adding that initially he drew designs that gave the impression of work clothes. But once Tidus was changed to an athlete, the design became much more sporty.

Yoshinori Kitase, the game’s producer, says it was his idea to make Tidus an athlete. The inspiration for this was Kitase’s love of science fiction movies that have race or sport elements to them.

“Up to that point, there hadn’t been sport components in the Final Fantasy series,” said Kitase, “so I thought this would be a new challenge.” By having Tidus be a sportsman, the producer added, this would give him a unique identity among FF protagonists.

“At that point, I discussed this with Nojima, and he went from being a plumber in the water to an athlete that competes in the water.” Interesting! But still doesn’t beat the best scrapped Square Enix concept ever: Tetsuya Nomura originally wanted the characters in Kingdom Hearts to use chainsaws.

“The first weapon I showed Disney was a chainsaw,” Nomura previously said. “Everyone got this scrunched-up look on their face and nobody said a word in the entire room.”

He quickly realized that the chainsaw wasn’t going to work, and the weapon of choice ultimately became the now iconic Keyblade.

Is Tidus a Sora?

Tidus is a friend of Sora, Riku, and Kairi, and is a resident of the Destiny Islands, spending most of his time with Wakka and Selphie. In Sora’s ‘Dive to the Heart’, Tidus appears in the Destiny Islands area along with Wakka and Selphie.

Is Tidus a Sin?

Tidus learns Sin is Jecht because the Final Aeon is dead, and a guardian close to the summoner will have to sacrifice him or herself to become the fayth for a new one, as Jecht did.

What happens to Tidus?

Tidus fading away. After defeating Yu Yevon, Yuna sends the aeons and Auron to the Farplane. The fayth depart and, being a dream of the fayth himself, Tidus must meet the same fate. As he begins to fade, he apologizes to Yuna for not being able to show her his Zanarkand and bids a tearful farewell to his friends.

Is Tidus just a dream?

Thus, Tidus is actually only as real as Yuna’s aeons. The destruction of Zanarkand 1000 years ago resulted from its battle with the machina-powered city of Bevelle.
