How to Get Stone Dust in V Rising? What are some materials to do it?

Stone Dust in V Rising is hard to come by in this crafting-survival game and many players end up searching for it everywhere, spending a lot of time in the process. The best thing to do is to craft it so here’s the step by step process to make and get Stone Dust.

How to Get Stone Dust in V Rising?

Players who wish to find Stone Dust need to break stone pillars but they aren’t a guaranteed drop from the stone structures you destroy. So it’s best to craft Stone Dust and here’s what you need to do to obtain this resource.

The first and really only requirement to craft stone dust and stone brick in V Rising is to build a Grinder. This is a station that can be built inside of your base relatively early on in the game. The Grinder will have its own mission associated with it, so you don’t have to worry about missing its recipe. Once the Grinder has been built, which requires you to have 8 planks, 4 whetstones, and 4 copper ingots. The whetstones present the biggest trouble, but you can visit Bandit Strongholds in Farbane Woods to easily loot them.

With the ingredients in hand, open the Build menu to construct the Grinder somewhere in your base. When it’s placed, approach it and hit “E” to enter its menu. Here, you’ll see a similar interface to that of the Sawmill or the Furnace. To produce stone dust, all you need to do is place stone from your inventory into the Grinder’s “input” boxes. If your castle is currently being powered by a Castle Heart, then the Grinder will begin to turn the stone into stone dust. After some time passes, the stone dust will appear on the “output” side of the Grinder’s interface. During this process, you’ll also receive one stone brick. You will need 12 stone to produce one stone dust and one stone brick.

If you don’t want to craft the materials, then you can always try using your mace to known down stone pillars, rocks, or other objects out in the wilderness. This can often lead to a modest amount of stone dust and brick dropping along with the regular stone. Both materials can also be found in chests and buildings throughout the world. With both materials, you have the opportunity to build new objects in your castle as well as craft whetstones by yourself.

As you might have noticed, you need Whetstones to craft Stone Dust which is used to craft Whetstones. For the former, you need to find Whetstones and create Stone Dust. After that you can craft Whetstones, which will be a faster process.

To find Whetstones, you will have to head to Bandit Strongholds that are marked on the map and beat the Bandits there. Players can either collect the Whetstones as drops or get them from the loot available in the location. But once you have found a way to craft Whetstones, you won’t have to do this process more often.

How to Get Stone Dust Crafting Material in V Rising

Stone Dust and Stone Brick go hand-in-hand. So, when you seek out one, you’ll get the other as well. Yes, you can find some in chests around the map. You may also find some around destructible buildings and objects like when breaking pillars. This has a poor return sometimes though, so you’re better off crafting it. But the crafting project is where it can get confusing.

It goes like this: you need Stone Dust to craft Whetstone, but you need Whetstone to craft Stone Dust.

This is because you have to build a Grinder near your Castle Heart if you want a healthy supply of Stone Dust in the game. A Grinder needs the following crafting materials:

8 boards
4 Copper Ingots
4 Whetstones

The boards come from the sawmill, while the Copper Ingots come from adding ingots to your Furnace. But what about the Whetstones? Well, you can’t craft those yet. Your best bet is to defeat Bandits at Bandit Camps as you can loot a good deal of Whetstones.

Now, you have your Grinder. What about the Stone Dust in V Rising? Well, you need Raw Stones. Once you have 12 Raw Stones, add them to the Grinder. You’ll receive 1 Stone Dust and 1 Stone Brick. Using this method isn’t just good for Stone Dust as Stone Brick is a vital material to build your castle that’s literally made from brick.

Once you defeat Grayson the Armourer (Level 27 boss), you can actually craft Whetstone in the Furnace. This will cost you 1 Copper Ingot and 12 Stone Dust.

And this is where the Stone Dust comes in handy in V Rising as Whetstone is a useful commodity for many reasons, like helping you build a good roof.

How to build a Grinder in V Rising with Stone Dust

A much easier way of making sure you have a reliable source over the long term is to invest a bit of time into making a Grinder. You’ll automatically get a quest to collect materials and build this crafting station fairly early on. Copper deposits can be found all around Farbane Woods, though you’ll need to upgrade your starting mace and gear to be able to break it. Whetstones can be found at various bandit camps, and planks are produced from the Sawmill, which you will also learn how to make from a quest.

Once you have the materials, construct the Grinder somewhere within your castle and you’re all set. 12 stones will net you one stone brick and one stone dust in V Rising.
