What do ski jumpers do?

Ski jumping has four distinct sections, and in each of these sections, ski jumpers must harness physics very differently. The first is the in-run, or ramp. Ski jumpers start by positioning themselves on a metal bar at the top of this ramp. At this point, they are utilizing the physics of gravitational potential energy. It states the higher an object is, the more potential energy it possesses. When skiing down the ramp, ski jumpers convert their potential energy into kinetic energy. The goals are to minimize air and snow resistance in order to gain speed and momentum before takeoff.

Ski jumping is a winter sport in which competitors aim to achieve the farthest jump after sliding down on their skis from a specially designed curved ramp. Along with jump length, competitor’s aerial style and other factors also affect the final score. Ski jumping was first contested in Norway in the late 19th century, and later spread through Europe and North America in the early 20th century. Along with cross-country skiing, it constitutes the traditional group of Nordic skiing disciplines.

Playboy

Playboy is an American men’s lifestyle and entertainment magazine, formerly in print and currently online.

It was founded in Chicago in 1953, by Hugh Hefner and his associates, and funded in part by a $1,000 loan from Hefner’s mother. Known for its centerfolds of nude and semi-nude models (Playmates), Playboy played an important role in the sexual revolution and remains one of the world’s best-known brands, having grown into Playboy Enterprises, Inc. (PEI), with a presence in nearly every medium.

In addition to the flagship magazine in the United States, special nation-specific versions of Playboy are published worldwide, including those by licensees, such as Dirk Steenekamp’s DHS Media Group.

The magazine has a long history of publishing short stories by novelists such as Arthur C. Clarke, Ian Fleming, Vladimir Nabokov, Saul Bellow, Chuck Palahniuk, P. G. Wodehouse, Roald Dahl, Haruki Murakami, and Margaret Atwood.

With a regular display of full-page color cartoons, it became a showcase for cartoonists such as Harvey Kurtzman, Jack Cole, Eldon Dedini,  Jules Feiffer, Shel Silverstein, Erich Sokol, Roy Raymonde, Gahan Wilson, and Rowland B. Wilson.

Playboy features monthly interviews of public figures, such as artists, architects, economists, composers, conductors, film directors, journalists, novelists, playwrights, religious figures, politicians, athletes, and race car drivers. The magazine generally reflects a liberal editorial stance, although it often interviews conservative celebrities.

After a year-long removal of most nude photos in Playboy magazine, the March–April 2017 issue brought back nudity.

How do ski jumpers not get hurt?

A main part is because they are landing on a slope. It means that for most, if not all, of the jump they are travelling parallel to the ground.

This slope means that when the jumper lands they can carry on moving forwards with virtually the same velocity they had when they were in the air.

This Olympian Has Posed Nude For Playboy, Has Secret Racy IG Account

Juliane Seyfarth’s verified account on Instagram has nearly 63,000 followers. But the 31-year-old ski jumper allegedly has a second account on the social media platform with around 39,000 followers where she goes by the name Nayeli and uploads “the raciest” photos, the Daily Star first reported.

The photo used as the profile picture of Seyfarth’s supposed second account is the same one the two-time ski-jumping world champion uploaded to her main account in November 2020, according to Barstool Sports, which investigated both accounts.

Additionally, the 2020 picture, which showed her in a bikini with a unicorn-themed swim ring around her waist, and the photos uploaded on Nayeli’s account were taken by Germany-based photographer Luke Craft.

Seyfarth, who won gold in the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 2019, previously posed nude for the cover of Playboy Germany’s March 2021 edition in an attempt to “raise awareness” for her sport.

Who runs Playboy now?

Not only is the magazine no longer controlled by the Hefner family, but the Playboy Mansion was sold in 2016 to Hostess brands owner Daren Metropoulos for $100 million. “For the last 45 years, Mr. Hefner has imbued the estate with a rich and storied legacy,” Daren said in a statement.

What is Playboy today?

Playboy is now trying to transform itself into a consumer products brand that sells sexual wellness products, clothing and gaming. Playboy’s famous bunny logo is being printed on lingerie, games and grooming products and is said to have $3bn in consumer spending across 180 countries, according to the BBC.

What are the rules of ski jumping?

The landing of a jump is made on a steep section of the hill in a more upright position, with the shock of contact taken up by the knees and hips and one ski farther forward than the other (the telemark position). After the slope levels off, the jumper stops his forward momentum by turning.
