Lily Rose Depp is set to star in “The Idol,”a new series created by Abel “The Weeknd” Tesfaye and “Euphoria” creator Sam Levinson.
The 23-year-old actress will play a cult leader in the HBO series, according to reports. The series is being described as a ” contemporary take on the classic story of a pop singer who enters a relationship with an enigmatic Los Angeles club owner who turns out to be the leader of a secret cult.”
The Weeknd will also star in the series and co-write and co-produce alongside Levinson. Lily Rose Depp is best known for starring in the 2016 film “Yoga Hosers” and 2018’s “The King.”
Depp described the project as “pushing the boundaries” and said she was “honored” to work with Levinson and The Weeknd. Details on when the series may premiere are scarce for now, but Lily Rose Depp’s casting suggests “The Idol” has moved closer to production.
