Who are the Junglers in LoL? Who is the best Jungler?

Jungler is the most unique role in League of Legends. Instead of playing in lane, you traverse the map fighting neutral monsters and popping out to surprise your enemies. What follows is a guide about Junglers in LoL and to get you ready to light up the jungle in your next game.

Who are the Junglers in LoL

Within a drafted team, the Jungler in LoL is the champion assigned to the jungle. A Jungler needs to be able to clear jungle camps without too much difficulty and ambush other champions in lane.

A Jungler is a role often seen in Summoner’s Rift and Twisted Treeline . A Jungler earns gold and levels up through experience via the neutral creeps located in between the lanes, better known as “the jungle”. Typically a team will have a Jungler, two strong solo laners and a bottom duo lane.

Junglers can fit many roles because they are often the wildcard of the team. You can almost always find a champion that can successfully clear the jungle for the role the team needs. That said, the most common jungler roles are carry and tank.

Why Jungling?

Jungling is a powerful option for any team, and mandatory for a premade team. When you have a jungler on your team, you gain a considerable advantage through having three of the players gaining full amount of the experience. Jungling also instills a sense of fear in the enemy, as they have no idea where you are or what you’re doing. Because of this, you have considerable advantages in map awareness and presence over a team without a jungle. When done properly, a jungler is someone you love to have on your team and will lead you to victory.

Who is the best Jungler in LoL?

3. Amumu

The sad mummy is finally back in the top junglers this season, as he’s a solid combination of everything needed in the jungle right now. Amumu has four solid reasons to be played: he’s a tank, he’s AP, he has a great stun as one of his non-ultimate abilities, and his ultimate is incredible for teamfights. Amumu’s early game is mostly just a series of ganks, but late game he’s one of the most effective junglers in a teamfight.

2. Trundle

Since tanks are really strong in the current meta, Trundle is an excellent pick. His ultimate ability is an essential tool against tanks, stealing 40% of the target’s current Armor and Magic Resist for 5 seconds. This can be a game changer when he’s able to use this ability on an enemy hyper tank in the late game and allow his team to win a critical teamfight.

The rest of his abilities are focused primarily on causing pressure in lanes, so he’s a viable pick for heavy ganking as well. If the enemy team doesn’t have at least one heavy tank on their team then you’ll probably be better off with someone else.

1. Nunu & Willump

Our #1 top pick for best jungler is Nunu (and Willump). This pick has been a monster in the jungle all season so far, and it’s not hard to see why. With the current meta being so focused on scaling into late game, and most lower elo games going long anyway, Nunu is incredible. Tanky junglers are usually good in long games since they’re able to initiate teamfights and peel for carries, but Nunu is a step above the rest.

3. Rek’Sai
Rek’Sai has tunneled her way into everyone’s heart. Seriously, if you want to have a great time in the jungle, then play Rek’Sai because she can just make her way into any lane for great ganks.

She has been a solid pick throughout the first few months of League of Legends Season 12, and that won’t change in Patch 12.8 either. She continues to dominate.

2. Nocturne
Nocturne is everyone’s nightmare, no matter which elo you’re in. There aren’t many champions that can have as much of an influence as he does. While some champions wreck low elos, others dominate high elo, but Nocturne can be played on every skill level and still have an impact.

No champion has as solid gank potential as Nocturne. Not only does his ultimate cause panic within his opponents hearts, but it’s also a great tool to create havoc in a lane. If you’re a jungle main, then don’t overlook Nocturne this patch to help your team.

1. Fiddlesticks
Fiddle made it to the S tier at EarlyGame, Riot! If this isn’t the perfect occasion for a new skin… oh, I’m starting to lose hope. His rework is just awesome, and great gameplay should be rewarded with a great skin.

Fiddlesticks is simply an all-inclusive package if you’re looking for a good jungler. He’s certainly a bit more demanding since his rework, but his CC and damage potential speak for themselves. Nothing messes up an opposing team like a Fiddlesticks Ultimate out of nowhere. Played well, you can make the difference in every game!

Tips to Playing Jungler in LoL

Try out different jungle champions in a custom game. It will help you to understand what champions can successfully jungle and why they work.
Switch up your first clear patterns. While sticking to one route may feel comfortable, the game often calls for deviations as new information arrives. Try to get comfortable in different clear scenarios.

Ask your laners to call out the summoner spells their enemy laner uses to play Junglers in LoL. You can track and use that information to shape your jungle pathing.

Make sure to let the enemy overcommit to gank before you show for a countergank. You don’t want to let your teammates die of course, but you don’t want the enemy to disengage for free either.

If your champion has crowd control, using it on the Rift Scuttler destroys its shield, making it quicker to kill.

The rate at which a large monster objective takes damage is not constant. This can make it very hard to time your Smite as a Junglers in LoL. Try to communicate with your team to burst objectives at the same time with your Smite to give you better odds of securing the objective.

What is the Junglers job in league?

The jungler in League of Legends has one of the most unique roles in the game. They spend most of the their time tucked away in the foliage between the three main lanes of Summoner’s Rift, fighting neutral monsters, gathering buffs and looking for ways to flank the opposing team.

What is the point of a Jungler?

Junglers rely on killing neutral monsters in the jungle to keep up with their laning teammates in terms of gold and experience. In a standard 5-on-5 game of League of Legends, four players in each team are laners, and one player is the jungler.

Are Junglers supposed to get kills?

If you play more of an aggressive/Bruiser type of jungler (noc, Shyv, Sin) you could take more kills, but you shouldn’t even care about who gets the kills if you play these champs really, cause it deosn’t matter.

What is the least popular role in League of Legends?

Jungle. The jungler is a position intended for aggressive players who seek to enter combat at all times, but who are skilled and elusive at the same time, since dying has a greater impact than if we do it in the lane. That is why Jungle is the least popular role in the game and probably one of the hardest roles in LoL.
