Cass County man wins $100,000 in Powerball drawing

A Cass County man is $100,000 richer after winning a Powerball prize.

Herman Baker, of Vandalia, matched four white balls and the Powerball in the Aug. 28 drawing to win the prize. He purchased his winning ticket at the Shell Gas Station at 1801 North Main St. in Three Rivers.

Baker doubled his prize to $100,000 thanks to the Power Play multiplier.

“I was in shock when I realized I won,” Baker told the Michigan Lottery. “I’ve been playing the lottery for years, but I never thought I’d actually win.”

Baker said he plans to save his winnings.

“I’m going to be smart with this money,” he said. “I’m going to pay off some bills and save the rest for the future.”

Baker’s win is a reminder that anyone can win the lottery, regardless of how much money they spend or how often they play. It’s also a reminder that it’s important to play responsibly and to set a budget for yourself.

Here are some tips for responsible lottery play:

  • Set a budget for yourself and stick to it.
  • Don’t chase your losses.
  • Consider playing with a group of friends or family members.
  • Remember that the lottery is a form of gambling, and there is no guarantee of winning.

If you do win the lottery, it’s important to take some time to think about what you want to do with your winnings. You may want to consult with a financial advisor to help you make the most of your money.
