Jotaro Kujo is a fictional character in the Japanese manga series JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, written and illustrated by Hirohiko Araki.

JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure is a long-running series written and illustrated by Hirohiko Araki. Although the series started in 1987, it only recently received an anime adaption by David Productions. JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure is one of the most best-selling manga of all time and is the second-largest ongoing manga series by volume count.

He has a Stand (a physical manifestation of his fighting spirit) named Star Platinum, whose power is incredible strength, speed, and precision. Later, Star Platinum gains the ability Star Platinum: The World, enabling Jotaro to stop time for a few seconds.

His fate interests fans like no other. The 12 episodes of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Stone Ocean that Netflix released today put his fate in serious question. This article contains spoilers from the anime.

The 12 episodes of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Stone Ocean cover the manga’s first six volumes, up to the Flash Flood Warning arc. Kujo Jotaro first appears in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Stone Ocean in a picture inside the pendant sent to his daughter Jolyne.

Audiences meet Jotaro in episode 3, The Visitor (1). Jotaro warns Jolyne that it’s not her ex-boyfriend Romeo who framed her but the blind assassin Johngalli A., one of DIO’s servants seeking revenge from the Joestar clan.

Does Jotaro die in Stone Ocean?

Yes and no, Jotaro does die in the original JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Stone Ocean manga arc, but is revived thanks to a timeline reset in the final chapter.

How does Jotaro die?

In part six of the JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure manga, Jotaro’s Memory and Stand Disks are stolen by Whitesnake. Jolyne is able to retrieve the Stand Disk but without the Memory Disk, Jotaro will become a husk of a person with no soul.

In a battle against Pucci, our protagonists are able to get Jotaro’s Memory Disk back and he starts to make a recovery.

However, when Jotaro and Jolyne’s team face Pucci one last time in Cape Canaveral, Pucci throws a knife towards Jolyne.

Jotaro lets go of his time-stopping power and choses to save his daughter; the knife strikes him in the face and kills him instantly.

However, the arc ends with Made in Heaven’s powers causing the entire timeline for the Stone Ocean storyline to be reset. This means that despite being mortally wounded on one timeline, by the end of Stone Ocean and in both of the alternative universes, Jotaro is alive.

The Death of Jotaro

Is Jotaro Kujo Dead?

Things aren’t looking good for Jotaro, Jolyne’s father whom she recently reconnected with. When Jotaro visits Jolyne at Green Dolphin Street Prison, the two are attacked by Pucci’s Stand, Whitesnake. During the attack, Jotaro is shot and his memory and Stand discs are stolen.

Jotaro appears to die but his body is turned over to the Speedwagon Foundation for safekeeping. Working on the theory that returning his memory and Stand discs will revive Jotaro, Jolyne risks her life to save her father.

But is the solution really so simple? Will returning the discs magically revive him, or is Jotaro Kujo dead?

In JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Stone Ocean volume 11, during the Whitesnake – The Pursuer arc, Jolyne Cujoh fights Enrico Pucci head-on.

To escape, Pucci throws Kujo Jotaro’s Memory Disk at Anasui, fatally wounding him. Jolyne can only save Anasui thanks to Foo Fighter and retrieves her Father’s Memory Disk.

Pucci, having memorized what he needed from Jotaro’s Disk to attain the ultimate Stand, Made in Heaven, moves on to the next part of his plan. With both his memory and Stand Disks, Kujo Jotaro slowly recovers.
