Casino Guru Pushes Global Self-Exclusion Standards & Automated Safety Reports in Latest Industry Moves

Explore how their new Safety Index Reports for B2B operators and African self-exclusion standards shape iGaming compliance.

Casino Guru and City St George’s, University of London, have presented the Self-Exclusion Standards Project. Casino Guru has introduced Automatic Safety Index Reports. This new account-based feature gives casino operators regular analysis of their Safety Index score and recommendations on how to improve their rating on Casino Guru.

African Online Casino Regulations: ARSO 32nd General Assembly iGaming

The project was presented at the 32nd General Assembly of the African Organisation for Standardisation (ARSO). The event ran from 24 to 28 August in Kenya, hosted in partnership with the Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS). Šimon Vincze, Head of Sustainable and Safer Gambling at Casino Guru, and Dr Margaret Carran, Assistant Vice President for Education Partnerships at City St George’s, University of London, delivered the presentation. The Africa-focused initiative creates a three-stage evidence-based framework for standardized online self-exclusion to cut gambling harm.

Online Gambling Self-Exclusion Standards Framework

The result of extensive research, the Self-Exclusion Standards Project outlines a three-stage evidence-based approach derived from research, workgroup consultation, and broader public consultation in order to deliver a gold standard that can be adopted across jurisdictions. The framework is designed with the idea of being easy to integrate across state borders and can have an immediate impact on player well-being and consumer protection standards.

“We focused on every aspect of the self-exclusion process and its implementation at operators to ensure that players are well-informed, able to find the right tool and use it at times when they are losing control,” Vincze said. “At the same time, we have sought to equip operators with appropriate procedures and safeguards to make sure they protect those who need it effectively.”

“Creating international standards for safer gambling tools and principles would bring enormous benefits to all stakeholders,” Carran said. The regulators and policy makers would have a reliable, evidence-based and robust source of what offers genuine protection; enforcement would become easier; players would benefit from a consistently high level of protection regardless of where they choose to gamble. To ensure the impact of the Self-Exclusion Standard Project, the initiative’s authors have vowed to support jurisdictions attempting to implement the framework to protect consumers and improve consumer safeguards locally.

Industry Impact on Operators in African Markets

Evidence-based self-exclusion standards give African regulators a ready-made compliance template and signal tougher responsible gambling rules ahead. This framework matters because it gives regulators a plug-and-play standard, which typically accelerates adoption. Operators entering or scaling in Africa need to anticipate these rules becoming the baseline—self-exclusion will shift from optional to table stakes faster than many expect. African regulators now have a concrete proposal for cross-border alignment on self-exclusion. Adoption will depend on how quickly workgroup and public consultations advance into local frameworks.

Casino Guru Safety Index: Automated Operator Analytics

Casino Guru currently has 6,000 casino representative accounts, and this number continues to grow. Safety Index reports have been around for a while, and what’s changing now is how quickly and how often they are delivered. The great news is that our partners no longer have to request Safety Index updates one by one. Automatic reports can now be scheduled for delivery on a monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, or annual basis. Additionally, partners can set reports to be sent when a casino’s Safety Index changes by a specified amount.

To set up automatic delivery, a representative just needs to have an account with us and let us know that we need to add to their account portfolio of casinos they manage. Once that’s set up, they can find the ‘Report settings’ tab in their profile where they can select how often they want these reports and what Safety Index changes should trigger them. In case representatives manage multiple casino brands, they will receive a separate PDF report for each casino in their portfolio.

B2B Responsible Gambling Compliance and the Fair Gambling Codex

Martin Dolný, Training & Development Specialist at Casino Guru, explains how it works and what partners should keep in mind before getting started. “Automatic delivery gives casinos a clearer and more consistent view of how their brands are performing,” said Martin Dolný. “Instead of requesting updates individually, our partners can now regularly receive detailed information about what drags their Safety Index down and take immediate steps to improve it.”

The reports provide a detailed look at a casino’s current Safety Index score. Basically, they serve as an overview of the key factors that influence whether we can recommend a casino to players and whether it deserves a top spot on our casino lists and other content. The factors that are analyzed in the reports include unresolved player complaints, problematic terms and conditions, restrictions, and other practices that may affect player safety. Each casino has its own dedicated report in a PDF file that analyzes a casino’s unresolved player complaints, problematic terms and conditions, restrictions, or other safety-related issues.

It explains clearly what’s behind Casino Guru’s rating and evaluation methodology, why we consider certain things unfair or problematic, and highlights them specifically. Any identified issues are accompanied by clear explanations of Casino Guru’s standpoint, and practical recommendations operators can use to fix them. Addressing these issues based on Casino Guru’s Fair Gambling Codex is the only way for operators to increase their Safety Index and rank among the top positions in Casino Guru’s casino lists. Currently, more than 700 casinos have adjusted their terms and conditions and improved their safety ratings and reputations thanks to these recommendations.

Casino Representatives and Player Dispute Feedback Loops

“We wanted to establish an ongoing feedback loop that helps operators track their progress over time,” said Dolný. Valuable information is easier to access, and communication is strengthened, which creates an ongoing feedback loop that allows operators to track their progress over time. Besides getting regular Safety Index updates, these accounts allow casino representatives to quickly respond to any player complaints posted on Casino Guru. This helps them resolve issues faster and satisfy customers who trust their brand, which is very important, especially in our industry. They are a great time saver, and they make collaboration with our partners even more effective and transparent.
