Search for Missing Alabama Woman Carlethia Nichole “Carlee” Russell Continues

The Hoover police department is reviewing traffic footage from Traffic Cam Archive for any clues about Carlethia Nichole disappearance. The footage shows what police confirm is Russell’s red Mercedes driving slowly on the shoulder lane of Interstate 459 in Hoover with her flashers on. Police are working to get the video enhanced for more clues into Russell’s disappearance. Rewards totaling $25,000 are being offered, with Crime Stoppers offering up to $5,000 and an anonymous donor putting up $20,000.

Russell is described as a Black female, 5 feet, 4 inches tall, and weighing between 150 and 160 pounds. She was last seen wearing a black shirt, black pants, and white Nike shoes. Hoover police have not committed to any one theory in Russell’s disappearance and are investigating every possibility. They have received numerous tips, and each one is assigned to an investigator.

The search for Russell has included teams of volunteers spreading out from Tuscaloosa to Vestavia Hills to Gardendale to hand out flyers. Investigators have finished with their grid search of the area where Russell’s car was found, and Russell’s family and friends conducted one of their own. Police have also released a new photo of Russell that they said may more accurately depict her current appearance.

Russell’s mother, Talitha Russell, told CNN affiliate WBRC that she was working to stay positive during the search for her daughter. “We are trusting God, we are staying positive, we are not allowing any negative thoughts to enter our minds,” she said. “So all that we are doing is trusting God, believing in God that our daughter will be brought home safely.”

The search for a missing Alabama woman, Carlethia Nichole “Carlee” Russell, continues after she vanished off the side of Interstate 459 in Hoover on Thursday night. Russell, a 25-year-old nursing student who works part-time at The Woodhouse Day Spa at the Summit, was on her way home from work and picking up dinner at the Colonnade when she spotted a young child on the interstate. She called 911, stopped to check on the child, and called a family member. The family member lost contact with her, but the line remained open. When officers arrived at the scene, they found Russell’s red Mercedes, still running but vacant, and some of her belongings, including her phone, but no sign of her or the child.
