PlayStation Plus Essential Free Games for August 2026
Sony has officially confirmed the PS Plus free games for August 2026: Essential tier subscribers will receive three new titles at no extra cost starting August 4. PS Plus Essential August 2026 monthly free games have begun rolling out, starting with Japan and Asia, where it’s Tuesday, August 4. Unlike the Extra and Premium catalogs, Essential games aren’t staggered by region, so players around the globe will be able to access the lineup on the same date at noon local time, when the PS Store updates. All three monthly games will be available on the PlayStation Store starting Tuesday, August 4, 2026, and can be claimed through August 31.
The lineup covers three genres—from an open-world zombie city to a tranquil puzzle-filled stroll.

Dying Light 2 Stay Human: Reloaded Edition (PS5, PS4)
Leading the month’s lineup is Dying Light 2 Stay Human: Reloaded Edition, the open-world zombie action RPG from Techland. The open-world action game places players in a city where civilisation has fractured after a devastating viral outbreak. In this post-apocalyptic city, you take on the role of Aiden Caldwell and fight for survival after a virus has turned most of humanity into monsters. Streets are controlled by competing groups while infected creatures become an even greater danger once daylight fades.
The Reloaded Edition bundles numerous updates and improvements the game has received since its release. The Reloaded Edition includes the base game along with a variety of gameplay improvements, the Bloody Ties DLC, and the Firearms Update. If you don’t want to go it alone, play the campaign in co-op with up to four players.
Big Walk (PS5)
The second addition is Big Walk, launching for PS5, centres almost entirely on communication between players rather than combat. From Studio House House (known for Untitled Goose Game) comes a co-op adventure where communication is more important than combat. You’ll explore a vast open world with friends, solve puzzles together, and constantly have to come up with new ways to stay in touch. It launches directly on PS Plus.
Signalis (PS4)
Rounding out the August collection is Signalis for PS4. A critically acclaimed survival horror game from the German studio Rose-Engine. As Elster, a technician replica, you wake up in a retrofuturistic world and search for your missing partner. Classic resource management, tricky puzzles, and a dark atmosphere are deliberately reminiscent of old Resident Evil and Silent Hill classics.
Interesting to note that despite Sony previously announcing that PS Plus would move away from offering PS4 games this year, Signalis is part of the August lineup.
Bonus: Marvel Tōkon PlayStation Plus Pack
Additionally, starting August 6, a free Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls PlayStation Plus Pack will be available on the PS Store. The drop includes five character profile avatars featuring Captain America, Storm, Spider-Man, Doctor Doom, and Ghost Rider, alongside a set of 20 result screen poses for characters like Ms. Marvel, Star-Lord, and Peni Parker. The pack can be redeemed through August 6, 2027.
Don’t Miss July’s Games
If you still want to catch up on the July games, you have until August 3 to do so. July’s titles—Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III, For the King II, and CrossCode—can still be claimed until August 3, after which they’ll be replaced by the new August lineup.
