MOUSE: P.I. For Hire Patch 1.2.2 Overhaul: Boss Fixes, Progression Cures, and Switch 2 Prep

Fumi Games and PlaySide Studios have officially rolled out a highly anticipated rescue operation for their acclaimed noir-themed first-person shooter. Initially released on April 16, 2026, MOUSE: P.I. For Hire captivated audiences with its rubber-hose animation style but stumbled slightly over some frustrating technical hitches. Now, Update 1.2.2 (frequently referenced in backend communities as Patch 2.002.002) is live across Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.

Nintendo Switch 2 owners, meanwhile, will need to wait just a little longer. According to recent reporting by Ali Haider at Twisted Voxel, the handheld platform’s equivalent patch is slated to arrive in the “coming weeks.”

What exactly does this patch accomplish? It zeroes in on the most jarring progression blockers, uncooperative UI elements, and input mapping limitations that have plagued digital detectives since launch. Let’s break down the verified data.

Untangling Progression Blockers and Boss Bugs

A significant portion of Patch 1.2.2 is dedicated to repairing broken game states. Previously, players exploring the River Fever Line found themselves caught in an endless conversational loop where NPC dialogue progressed, but actual quest tracking refused to register. This issue has been fully resolved.

Similarly, deep-diving detectives in “The Depths” will no longer be locked out of interacting with critical environmental pipes after speaking with the Old Shrew NPC. Map boundary exploits have also been tightened up. Fumi Games patched an oversight in Clergy Row where players could vault a specific fence to freely explore out of bounds while the camera remained awkwardly locked in place.

Perhaps the most crucial gameplay fix involves the notoriously glitchy Robo-Betty encounter. Prior to this update, a pathfinding error frequently trapped the boss in an endless running loop. This bug effectively allowed players to completely skip the grueling third phase of the fight. With pathfinding corrected, Robo-Betty will once again demand a fair fight.

Finally, for completionists, the collectible display shelf in Jack Pepper’s office now properly updates when gathering missed items via the Level Revisit system.

UI Cures and Controller Mapping Nuances

Beyond level progression, the user experience receives some much-needed TLC. Menu navigation is smoother, notably fixing a dangerous blocker where rapidly spamming newspaper popups would forcibly close the shop window, lock players entirely out of the UI, and mandate a hard game restart.

Key rebinding has also seen a major overhaul across all available platforms. Players can now remap virtually every action to suit their playstyle, with one notable, hardware-driven exception for controller users. According to the patch documentation, the “Use” action cannot be rebound because it fundamentally shares the same input as “Reload” due to controller hardware limitations.

Furthermore, pause menus have been cleaned up. The ‘Exit Level’ and ‘Exit Game’ options are now correctly placed and consistently selectable.

Preparing for the Nintendo Switch 2 Release

While Xbox, PlayStation, and PC players are enjoying these fixes today, the development team has also outlined exactly what the impending Nintendo Switch 2 version of Patch 1.2.2 will address.

When it drops, the Switch 2 update will eliminate a frustrating crash triggered by rapidly entering and exiting the lockpicking minigame on doors and safes. It also eradicates a hard crash isolated to picking up the “Letter to the Dame” in both the MANGIA and MANGIA Secret Show segments.

On the hardware side, Fumi Games is correcting an issue where Joy-Con haptics failed to trigger when the controllers were physically connected in either handheld or docked mode. Motion sensitivity labels, which were previously cut off in the UI, will be appropriately resized, and mouse sensitivity tweaks will finally function correctly for those using Mouse Mode on the hybrid console.
