GTA 6 Leaks Escalate Ahead of Netflix Reveal
The situation surrounding the anonymous leaker “Cyberleek” has drastically escalated over the last 24 hours. Roughly three months out from Grand Theft Auto VI’s release — and just a week ahead of an extended look premiering on Netflix — an individual or group operating under the name CyberLeek has started publishing what looks like unfinished footage from the game.
After primarily leaking open-world activities and mechanics featuring the protagonist Jason, Cyberleek is now threatening to release heavy story spoilers—specifically the “Lucia-led prologue.” Meanwhile, parts of the GTA community are circulating conspiracy theories on Reddit, speculating that Cyberleek might be an elaborate guerrilla marketing stunt by Rockstar Games ahead of the official Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look scheduled to premiere on Netflix on August 27.
Cyberleek Manifesto: A Bizarre Fan Protest
Beyond the videos, CyberLeek has issued a consumer-rights manifesto, minted its own cryptocurrency, and invited the public to spend that token to decide which footage drops next. In a bizarre manifesto, the leaker demanded that at least 10 fans show up outside Rockstar or Take-Two Interactive offices dressed as leeks and holding physical game discs. This stunt is tied to the group’s “protest” against the industry’s shift to digital-only releases (as GTA 6 physical editions reportedly only contain a digital download code).
The group claiming responsibility for today’s apparent GTA 6 gameplay and map leak is using the publicity that’s come with the leak to promote its own crypto coin, all with the ironclad assurance that “this is not a cash grab.” The “CYBERLEEK Edict” spells out three “Commandments” around digital rights. In short: end digital pre-orders, end baked-in DLC which can only be accessed through additional purchases, and ensure offline-playable versions for any single-player content in online games.
CyberLeek has converted that frustration into a threat. The message “NO PHYSICAL DISCS? THEN MORE LEEKS!” appears in some of the leaked videos. CyberLeek has rolled out a Solana-based memecoin under the ticker $CYBERLEEK. The token doubles as the voting mechanism for future leaks. Participants send $CYBERLEEK to whichever option they favor, with every token counted toward that choice. Outcomes therefore measure how much cryptocurrency each option pulled in — not how many separate people cast a vote. By the afternoon of Aug. 20, $CYBERLEEK was changing hands at roughly $0.001227 apiece. Across the one billion tokens in circulation, that worked out to a potential market capitalization near $1.23 million.
Nudist Colony and Strip Club Gameplay Surface
Cyberleek ran a poll on his own site offering three options: a beach, a second strip club, or “Nudist Town”. Nudist Town won with roughly 71% of the vote, and the clip went up on August 24. It’s over two minutes long, and Rockstar’s age rating problem just got more complicated.
This time, hacker/leaker Cyberleek has shared a new gameplay clip showing Jason exploring what appears to be some sort of nudist club or colony at night, showing off a vast array of body types, some impressive pool lighting, and the violence GTA is known for. It seems Jason has found some sort of nudist colony, as all sorts of people can be seen in the newest leak completely or partially naked. Some of them respond negatively to Jason, who in the clip can be seen using binoculars to look at some of the nudists from just a few feet away.
Cyberleek released footage of the “NINE1NINE” strip club (the same club seen in Trailer 2) after their memecoin hit a $3 million market cap. Additional clips showed Jason robbing a gas station, demonstrating an in-game refueling mechanic, and the return of the classic “Wasted” screen following an explosive truck crash. A clip showing Jason flying a plane high over Vice City, giving fans a massive aerial view of the leaked Leonida map.
Mechanics Details: Six-Star Wanted Level and Focus Stats
Two clips that appear to show Grand Theft Auto 6 gameplay leaked online on August 18, along with an image of the game’s full map. Leaked GTA 6 gameplay shows a Focus stat, a stamina meter and the six-star wanted level.
The first clip is the quiet one. Jason steps off the balcony of the waterfront house from the second trailer, walks past a jetski, and shoots hoops in the driveway. Scoring works on a timing system where you press a button as two rings overlap, and a made shot bumps a Focus stat by two per cent.
The second clip has the detail. Jason clips a Scoop delivery truck on the highway, the driver climbs out swinging, and a stamina bar drains through the fight. Jason takes the man’s wrench and beats him to death with it, emptying the bar and vignetting the edges of the screen. Two wanted stars light up next, with four unlit stars beside them, so the six-star ceiling is back after sitting out GTA 5.
The leaked GTA 6 map splits Leonida into five counties, including one nobody has seen. The map is a squashed, redrawn south Florida. Vice City sits on the east coast, green space fills the west and north, and a chain of islands runs south where the Keys should be. Five counties are labelled: Lummox, Leonard, Kelly, Vice Dale and Mariana. Lummox has not appeared in any GTA 6 material before now.
Take-Two Interactive Subpoenas Microsoft and Discord
Take-Two Interactive is suing to track down someone who allegedly leaked clips of Grand Theft Auto 6 before a planned Netflix reveal. The company has also subpoenaed Microsoft and Discord to help track down accounts related to the leaks, including those linked to the “Cyberleek” persona. The subpoenas were filed in the US District Court for the Southern District of New York on August 20 and seek records that could help identify the person behind the leaks.
The petition asks Microsoft to provide all internal Microsoft business records and investigative records associated with Microsoft’s internal investigation of the ‘cyberleek’ persona sufficient to identify the user(s), person(s) and/or entity/ies associated with that persona.
Take-Two has also asked Discord to provide information about accounts connected to servers where GTA 6-related material was allegedly shared. The subpoena requests all identifying information associated with all user accounts that are/were members communicating with the Discord server(s) listed below… and for those accounts, provide any associated device/telemetry records. Take-Two’s legal action shows that the company is treating the leaks as a serious intellectual-property issue rather than simply an online publicity problem.
