According to court documents, a proposed $92 million settlement<\/strong> in the TikTok<\/strong>, Inc., Consumer Privacy Litigation is pending, in which the company is accused of \u201cviolating federal and state law by collecting and using\u201d personal data \u201cin connection with their use of the TikTok<\/strong>\u00a0 Make Your Day video-sharing application\u201d and its predecessor app Musical.ly<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

According to records, TikTok denies the charges, and a settlement with Chinese parent company ByteDance<\/strong> was reached in late February.<\/p>\n

TikTok, on the other hand, published a settlement notice in the app on Monday, referring users to Tiktokdataprivacysettlement.com<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

TikTok is a social media platform that provides short films with a cheerful tone. Young people, particularly Generation Z, have embraced the app. According to a Pew Research Center research from April, TikTok is used by around 48 percent of 18- to 29-year-olds.<\/p>\n

TikTok revealed in September that it reached one billion users worldwide. The app, which is owned by the Chinese corporation ByteDance, has been the subject of some controversy, and it was recently criticized for its impact on teen girls\u2019 body image.<\/p>\n

How to Make a Claim on TikTok ?<\/h2>\n

To be eligible for the money, you must have used the app by Sept. 30 and submitted a claim form by March 1, 2022, according to court records. For minors, parents can file claims.<\/p>\n

According to paperwork, persons who live in Illinois and have used TikTok to generate videos may be entitled to six times the amount.<\/p>\n

The paperwork can be filled out online or printed and mailed to Tiktokdataprivacysettlement.com.<\/p>\n

There are four alternative ways to obtain the settlement:<\/h3>\n
