Simone&#8217;s maternal grandparents adopted her when she was six.<\/p>\n<h2>Shannon Biles<\/h2>\n<h3>Shannon Biles has stated she has been sober since 2007 and wants to have a closer relationship with her daughter.<\/h3>\n<p>On August 30th 2019 her son Tevin Biles-Thomas, whom she had to give up to foster care, was arrested in connection with the murder of three men.<\/p>\n<p>She was in foster care as a child<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.virlan.co\/trends\/simone-biles-withdraws-stars-exit-from-team-final-competition-at-the-olympics\/\">Simone Biles<\/a><\/strong>\u2019 was traumatized during her early childhood in Spring, Texas, when her birth mother, Shannon Biles, became unable to care for her and her three siblings.<\/p>\n<p>The foursome went in and out of foster care, but Biles was adopted in 2003 by her loving maternal grandfather and his wife. The pair have long encouraged her passion for gymnastics. In her 2016 memoir, \u201cCourage to Soar: A Body in Motion, A Life in Balance,\u201d the sportswoman discussed the disruption to her formative years, writing: \u201cmy biological mom was suffering from drug and alcohol abuse and she was in and out of jail, I never had mom to run to.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Shannon Biles<\/strong> spoke to The Daily Mail when Simone was competing at the Rio Olympics in 2016.<\/h3>\n<p>Offering some of her family\u2019s history, Shanon shared, \u201cWhen we signed the [adoption] papers, it was like my dad flipped a switch on me \u2013 no communication, don\u2019t call, and don\u2019t visit. That\u2019s how it was at the beginning.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>Simone Biles<\/strong> was adopted when she was 6, according to PEOPLE.
