What Is Wordle?<\/h2>\n

Wordle blew up in just a matter of months\u2014and with good reason. It\u2019s addictive!<\/h6>\n

Josh Wardle<\/strong> created the game as a gift to his partner, Palak Shah, who loves crosswords, he revealed to The New York Times.<\/p>\n

From November 2021 to January 2022, it went from 90 daily players to upwards of 300,000, then a whopping 2 million and counting.<\/p>\n

Wardle<\/span><\/strong> explained of the game\u2019s appeal, \u201cI think people kind of appreciate that there\u2019s this thing online that\u2019s just fun. It\u2019s not trying to do anything shady with your data or your eyeballs. It\u2019s just a game that\u2019s fun.\u201d<\/p>\n

Is Wordle free?<\/h2>\n

Teuf said he and his girlfriend discovered Wordle<\/span> about a month ago and discussed building a spin off. She plays geography quizzes, Teuf says, and one of his best friends is a fan of the video game \u201cGeoGuessr,\u201d so developing a geography-based game made sense. And yet Teuf willingly admits he \u201csucks at geography\u201d and would often lose at his own game when he first released it.<\/p>\n

Worldle, which Teuf built as a side project and ran in his spare time, soon \u201cexploded.\u201d He says it reached 10,000 users within 10 days of his first sharing it on social media in January. On Sunday, more than 570,000 people played Worldle; on Monday, it was more than 950,000.<\/p>\n

Teuf attributes Worldle\u2019s success to the same features that helped Wordle take off: It\u2019s free, easy to play and access, doesn\u2019t have ads and encourages players to share their results, creating an online community \u2014 at a time when many people can\u2019t interact in person as much as they might like because of the pandemic.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe game creates connections among people who potentially can\u2019t see each other because of different travel restrictions,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Teuf said that as the game has gone more viral, it has brought more scrutiny. \u201cWhen you know there\u2019s 900,000 people playing it, there\u2019s definitely more pressure,\u201d he said. \u201cIn the mornings, I check how many users there were the day before and think, wow, that\u2019s nuts.\u201d<\/p>\n

Anyone who knows the game Mastermind, which employs the use of coloured pegs, will instantly be familiar with the premise of Wordle, and therefore, Octordle.<\/p>\n

How do you play daily Wordle?<\/h3>\n

  1. Go into \u2018Settings\u2019 on your phone and click on \u2018General\u2019<\/li>\n
  2. Select \u2018Date and Time\u2019 and then un-tick \u2018Set Automatically\u2019<\/li>\n
  3. Set the date on your phone to tomorrow<\/li>\n
  4. Go back to the Wordle website and enjoy playing the puzzle a day in advance<\/li>\n
  5. Don\u2019t forget to reset your phone to the right date after playing<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    How can I play Wordle more than once a day?<\/h4>\n

    If one game of Wordle in a day just isn\u2019t enough, following these steps on a mobile phone will grant players access to tomorrow\u2019s game a day early.<\/p>\n

    Players can also go back and have a go at any old Wordles that they missed, allowing multiple games to be played in the same day.<\/p>\n
