2026’s Top NYC Restaurants: Award Winners & Michelin Picks
Discover the ultimate 2026 NYC restaurant guide featuring NYT’s #1 Caribbean spot Kabawa, Michelin additions, and Bon Appétit’s favorite Ha’s Snack Bar.
The Best Restaurant in All of New York
The New York Times just debuted its annual ranking of the best 100 restaurants in NYC, crowning Paul Carmichael’s Kabawa as the top spot for 2026. Fine dining no longer has to spell white tableclothed and buttoned-up affairs; nowadays, food can be as fun as it is fine. And there is no greater example of this than at Kabawa. Mishan praised Carmichael’s ambitious take on Caribbean cuisine, highlighting the prix-fixe menu’s gutsy pleasures and flavors of sorrel powder, tamarind, allspice and Scotch bonnet peppers.
Newcomers Cracking the Top Ten
For 2026, a whopping 33 restaurants made their debut on the list. Three new restaurants cracked the top ten this year: Bayside Taiwanese spot Mama Lee (10), Hooni Kim’s Long Island City tasting-menu restaurant Meju (4) and the $330-per-person kaiseki experience Yamada (2). Joining them were Semma from the Unapologetic Foods team (7), Andrew Tarlow’s Borgo (6) and the revived Torrisi (3). Fine-dining mainstays also rounded out the top ten, including Emma Bengtsson’s Aquavit (8), Junghyun and Ellia Park’s Atomix (8) and Jean-Georges Vongerichten’s eponymous Jean-Georges (5).
America’s Best New Restaurant Nod
Every year, a handful of shiny new spots across the country get anointed as the best by Bon Appétit magazine. Only one NYC restaurant made the list of America’s best new restaurants of 2025, but it’s totally deserved. From pop-up cult favorite to Lower East Side obsession, Ha’s Snack Bar more than proves why it deserves that coveted national nod. Anthony Ha and Sadie Mae Burns spent years running Ha’s Đặc Biệt, a Vietnamese pop-up that ricocheted across New York City and beyond. During the pandemic, their egg-scallion bánh mì and cabbage rolls stuffed with pork shank developed something close to cult status. Now, tucked onto Broome Street, the duo finally has four walls—and a chalkboard menu that changes daily depending on mood, inspiration or sheer whim.
Michelin Guide’s Latest NYC Additions
In Manhattan, the new entries showcase the city’s incredible diversity. New recommended restaurants added to the Michelin Guide… Manhattan: Yugin, Len Len, Kjun, Wild Cherry, Cynthia, Oyatte, Marcel, Odo East Village, Bistrot Ha. Hidden inside the historic Cherry Lane Theatre, Wild Cherry—from the acclaimed Frenchette team—beckons with dim globe lights, a stellar raw bar and exceptional fried frog legs in garlic butter. Brooklyn’s trio of additions focuses on charm, heritage and personality… Arthur, Balera, Confidant. Not to be outdone, Queens proves its status as a world-class food destination with three distinct hotspots… AbuQir, Pierogi Boys, Bolivian Llama Party.
The Essential Standouts
The Unapologetic Foods crew revived their famed Long Island City restaurant, bringing lamb butter-heavy dishes (and a whole butter chicken experience) to the East Village. The plume of spices in the air once you arrive at Adda is enough of a signal that you are in for a treat. Theodora… A mecca for live fire and dry-aged fish from Tomer Blechman. Skeletal remains of whole fish hang above the grill at Theodora, giving you a strong indication of what’s to come.
