Epic Games has announced two new tournament formats coming soon to competitive Fortnite<\/strong>. Dubbed Fortnite Lightning World Cup<\/strong>, this latest variation features a different take on the usual scoring system and format. While its purpose is unknown, Epic seems to be workshopping new concepts to give tournaments a fresh overhaul.<\/p>\n

What is the Fortnite Lightning Cup?<\/h2>\n

In a series of tweets, Fortnite<\/strong> Competitive has explained in detail what the Lightning Cup is all about. According to this, there will be two Lightning Cup events<\/strong> in the game starting next week. These cups are tournaments without a prize pool where players can compete against each other. Epic is looking to host regular Fortnite Lightning Hype Cup<\/strong> this season to fill the weekly tournament schedule. Formats, game mechanics, and weapons may change from cup to cup!<\/p>\n

The first Lightning Cup of this Season, themed “Zero Build” will take place on April 5, 2022, at 7:00 PM in Europe. The second one will happen on April 7, 2022, at 19:00. However, in the Fortnite<\/strong> Lightning Cash Cup<\/strong> there will be no usual prize pool. Epic Games seems to want to test the waters in this mode first. On the other hand, Chapter 3 Season 2 games will still be played on their original schedule.<\/p>\n

Fortnite Best Of Lightning Cup (PRIZEPOOL)<\/h3>\n

These Rules have been designed to ensure the integrity of competitive play of Fortnite (the \u201cGame\u201d) in connection with the Event, and are intended to promote vigorous competition and to help ensure that all competitive play of the Game is fun, fair, and free from Toxic Behavior (as defined below).<\/p>\n

To participate in the Fortnite Lightning Cup Event<\/strong>, each player must agree (or, if a Minor (as defined below), such player\u2019s parent or legal guardian must agree on such player\u2019s behalf) to follow these Rules at all times, including the Code of Conduct in Section 8. A player (or, if a Minor, such player\u2019s parent or legal guardian) may accept these Rules by clicking to accept or agree to these Rules, where this option is made available to you by Epic Games, Inc. (\u201cEpic\u201d) in the Game client. By participating in any game or match that is part of the Event, a player is confirming that he or she (or, if a Minor, his or her parent or legal guardian) has accepted these Rules pursuant to this Section 1.2.<\/p>\n

Epic will have primary responsibility for enforcing these Rules to Fortnite Lightning Cup<\/strong> for all players at the Event and may, working with the Event Administrators (as defined below), impose sanctions on players for violations of these Rules, as further described in Section 9.<\/p>\n

Epic may update, revise, change, or modify these Rules from time to time. For each player in Fortnite Lightning Cup<\/strong>, his or her participation in the Event after any update, revision, change, or modification to these Rules will be deemed acceptance by such player (or, if a Minor, such player\u2019s parent or legal guardian) of these Rules as updated, revised, changed, or modified.<\/p>\n
