The Best Zombie Games On PC In 2022<\/h2>\n

Resident Evil<\/h3>\n

No list of zombie games<\/strong> would be complete without Resident Evil<\/strong>. You might have been scared out of your wits by Resident Evil 7 in VR<\/strong>, or found yourself repeatedly returning to the action-packed classic that is Resi 4, but you will still find plenty of frights in the game where it all started. Without the unnecessary complications tacked on to future sequels, Resident Evil<\/strong> is one of the best horror games<\/strong> around.<\/p>\n

Trapped in the famously labyrinthine Spencer Mansion, as Chris Redfield or Jill Valentine, ravenous zombies and dangerous mutations lie behind every corner in Resident Evil, often obscured or blocked by inventive environmental puzzles<\/strong>. Fixed camera angles intensify the sensation of claustrophobia and your limited inventory keeps you feeling vulnerable.<\/p>\n

Call of Duty<\/h3>\n

Honestly, you could elect any of Treyarch\u2019s Call of Duty games<\/strong> to this list, because their zombie horde modes are the best around. Black Ops 4 had a very good zombies mode<\/strong>, however, the reason we\u2019ve singled out Black Ops Cold War because it is a nice entry point for those who\u2019ve not played zombies mode<\/strong>, and is an excellent FPS game<\/strong> overall.<\/p>\n

It also has a fresh story, great tutorials, easter eggs galore, and the original map is much easier for the classic survival modes<\/strong>. There\u2019s still tons to sink your teeth into and the reception from those who have played it has been more positive than prior instalments.<\/p>\n

Project Zomboid<\/h3>\n

\u201cThis is the story of how you died.\u201d The famous first words of an isometric sandbox survival game<\/strong> that\u2019s been around in various guises nearly as long as Minecraft. But hitting version 1.0 in 2021 gave Project Zomboid, at long last, a sense of polish and user-friendliness to match its longstanding depth and tweakability.<\/p>\n

Looking like an undead-filled early \u201890s DOS game akin to Syndicate or UFO: Enemy Unknown, it has retro appeal to spare, but its borne out of necessity more than anything: its indie development team pack the world with variation and interactivity. Doing that in a game that looks like an Unreal Engine demo just wasn\u2019t feasible, so it\u2019s a happy accident that we get to enjoy the zombie invasion from a different perspective, one that lends its own atmosphere in a genre stuffed with similar titles.<\/p>\n

Back 4 Blood<\/h3>\n

Was Valve ever on a roll back in the 2000s. \u201cOh, this? Just Half-Life 2. Yeah, it\u2019s pretty great. Then we\u2019ll probably release three generational games all at once, redefine indie gaming\u2026 oh, and we\u2019ve got a co-op shooter about zombies<\/strong> that will change everything.\u201d<\/p>\n

Left 4 Dead<\/strong> would not be copied anything like as much as it should have been in the years after release. In fact it wasn\u2019t until well into the 2010s that we became spoiled for choice in co-op shooters, and even now as spiritual threequel Back 4 Blood<\/strong> from original developer Turtle Rock arrives, it doesn\u2019t have many direct rivals. The big difference now is modifier cards, which take the idea of the AI director from the original (that theoretical, invisible force who set hordes and specials on you at the most inopportune times) and find new ways to make you uncomfortable and disoriented, desperate in a fight for survival at nearly all times.<\/p>\n
